Katsushika Hokusai

In the early 1830s, Katsushika Hokusai revolutionized the world of Japanese woodblock printmaking with a series of full-size color landscape prints centering on one theme, the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Best sellers in their own time, these prints became famous around the world just a few decades later and had a strong influence on European art in the late 19th century.
