About

The City University of New York is committed to an emergency preparedness program that is designed to prevent, respond and recover from emergencies and disasters that may impact the University.  CUNY takes a comprehensive approach to mitigate, prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from any adverse effects from incidents or disruptions that can impact CUNY campuses.  These incidents may arise from natural, technological or human-caused, and may result in loss of life, property damage, financial loss and/or operational impairment.

CUNY’s goal is to create a disaster-resistant and disaster-resilient institution with effective crisis and consequence management capability.  Environmental, Health, Safety and Risk Management helps to integrate emergency preparedness across the University by developing emergency plans, managing preparedness training and outreach programs, and providing guidance and system-wide coordination in support of CUNY’s emergency management and continuity planning programs.
