Setting your default region for Codespaces

You can set your default region in the GitHub Codespaces profile settings page to personalize where your data is held.

Codespaces is available for organizations using GitHub Team or GitHub Enterprise Cloud. For more information, see "GitHub's products."

You can manually select the region that your codespaces will be created in, allowing you to meet stringent security and compliance requirements. By default, your region is set automatically, based on your location.

Setting your default region

  1. In the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then click Settings. Settings icon in the user bar
  2. In the left sidebar, click Codespaces. Codespaces tab in the user settings sidebar
  3. Under "Region", select the setting you want.
  4. If you chose "Set manually", select your region in the drop-down list. Selecting your region
