I hired Basements Love Us to waterproof our basement. The estimator was nice and gave us a great deal if we signed with him on the day of the estimate. I was told it would be waterproofed, but under the stairs, they were going to install a grate to catch the water and stop it from going into the area of the basement which would be finished. The job was done on a Friday. I signed what I thought was a receipt when the job was finished. I went down the basement on the following Monday and I had water coming in one corner and still under the stairs but it was going into the grate. I contacted Shannon and was told that I signed off on the job(even if that were the case, I signed assuming the basement was waterproofed which it was not) Shannon asked me to send her pictures and after going back and forth she said she would send someone out as a courtesy I was immediately thrown off by the use of that word, as I feel it was not a favor to me, it was to complete the service which was not done properly in the first place. 3 corners were waterproofed one way and the 4th corner was not finished as shown in the pictures below. They came out and finished the corner that was not finished during the initial install. The installer told me that I was right and it should have been completed that way originally. A couple of weeks later I went downstairs with the contractor to talk about finishing the basement and noticed that the water is going past the grate, which we were told would not happen. The estimator said that we could put a door in front of the grate and we would not see the grate or the water that was going into the grate. I just contacted Shannon again and was told that the stairs leading to the Bilco doors need to be replaced and to let her know if we would like a price for that. We were misled by the company. Had I known the basement would still be getting wet beyond the grate I would have used the money to do something else to my home since I am not able to finish the basement with what basements love us has done. I told Shannon I would be writing a review and she said it was defamation of character and they will contact their lawyer if need be. I am simply stating facts about the services I have received so that no one else has to deal with what we are. The installers were very friendly, but dealing with Shannon was an unpleasant experience. Their customer service of there is an issue is terrible, and the way they handled my issues within a month of install does not give me much faith in their lifetime transferable warranty. I have pictures to show exactly what I am speaking of, but I am not able to post them here. ****the response from the owner is a lie. Kurt told us what we needed when he saw our problem. The owner was not at my house when we spoke about what was to be done. Kurt was the estimator and he told us the water would not go past the grate. Never was any other solution mentioned. The stairs were not mentioned as an issue until after the job was finished and paid for and we were still getting water. Now you want us to hire your company to do more work when we are not happy with the first job you did. You did not come out as a courtesy. The installer that came out told me I was correct and that the job was not completed and he did what should have been done when the work was initially performed. I did not decline a full perimeter waterproofing. We were never offered that. Kurt came out and told us we only needed 3 outer walls done because the 4th side is against an interior wall to the upper part of our basement. The issue is not with that wall, it is with the side that was worked on. We were not given what was promised and therefore we paid for a job that did not solve our problem. I did not threaten to write bad reviews, I said that I would be writing a review stating my experience. Just please beware before hiring this company and do not sign anything upon complet...

    Response from Company:

Thank you for your feedback as it is greatly appreciated. This customer is upset because she did not like what I had to say. We went out to her house as a courtesy previously whether she wants to admit it or not. She declined a full perimeter waterproofing package which we strongly recommend to all customers. We advised that we performed the work off of our mutual legal contract and advised that the area in question was not something that we in fact waterproofed, therefore it is not covered under our warranty. She then began to threaten our company with bad reviews. That?s why we are here in this discussion. We do stand by our warrantied work. The area she is questioning however, is not warrantied as we advised. We did offer a solution to her and advised that there would be an additional fee as it was not on the original contract. Again, she just continued to threaten us with bad reviews and we explained that just like any other company there are expenses incurred for additional work and our overhead must be obtained. We can not perform any work for free.

the very next day after mold treatment and the paint dried on the cinder blocks the same effloresce bled through. They then told me it would be another $5000 to rectify !!! They should have used a moisture meter originally to determine there was considerable moisture in the blocks. Needless to say did not rehire for additional work!

    Response from Company:

Hello and thank you for your feedback! However, we believe that you are mistaken. You specifically signed up for a mold remediation treatment only. You did not sign up for any waterproofing solutions at all. Therefor, without a waterproofing solution your blocks will never drain in the first place. Our mold treatment consisted of our men setting up containment and scrubbing/vacuuming your wall and then applying a biocide antimicrobial white wash. This white wash was explained to you in detail that it was not for looks and only was a primer type of coating. If you were looking for looks you would then have to paint a finished coat over top of our white wash coat. All of this was on our mutual contract and was written in clear detail in which you signed off on. At the end of the job you were more than happy with the work and signed the completion sheet indicating so. Good luck in your search and if you have any problems with our actual work that we performed according to our contract please feel free to reach out!

The salesman lied about the price and the job details. The salesman gave me a hand written contract that was illegible. I have called many times for new leaks after the job was done and no one came out or called.

    Response from Company:

We went out to Judy C. home on 6/1/18. Our technician advised us that it had nothing to do with our system and as a courtesy we performed the extra work that was needed at no additional charge.

The team at Basements Love Us was excellent! They were clear and upfront about exactly what work needed to be done, and we were confident they were giving us the best deal possible. They completed the work quickly and in line with our schedule. After a number of large rain storms, our basement has remained dry!

The service man was highly knowledgeable, personable and able to explain things in plain English so that I understood very clearly the process. Additionally, I learned quite a bit about the various types of mold and other pollutants that possibly manifest inside of ones home. Thank you for the education.

They came out to review my project, did a thorough inspection and were up front and honest. All you can ask for in a contractor.

All aspects of the process were presented professionally. The salesman arrived as scheduled and was patient and kindly answered all of our questions. The construction crew was on time as scheduled and completed the job on schedule and advised us on every step of the job. They were polite and professional.
