FAQ

How to turn off blocks I don’t need in Getwid?

In Getwid version 1.5.3 or higher, you can disable WordPress blocks you don’t need via Settings > Writing > scroll down to Disable Getwid Blocks > select the needed blocks and click Save.

Does the plugin work with any WordPress theme?

Your theme is rather a container and styling mechanism for blocks. We made sure Getwid blocks maximum inherit default styles from your theme – unless you add your own styles! Getwid is also tested with the Twenty Twenty theme – they are a great couple.

What happens to my Getwid content if I deactivate the plugin?

Your content will be displayed in a simplified format; it’ll get back to the initial look after you reactivate Getwid.

Are Getwid blocks translation-ready?

Yes. The plugin works with major translation plugins.

Can I use my own icons?

Yes. By default Getwid uses Font Awesome icons but you can add your own ones.

Can I use custom fonts?

Yes. By default Getwid uses Google Fonts but you can disable them or add custom.

Can I change the «Recent Posts» block layout?

Yes. Copy this file: \getwid\includes\templates\recent-posts\post.php to {your_theme}\getwid\recent-posts\.

Can I use it with other block plugins?

Definitely! You can use Getwid together with the core and third-party block plugins.

I was extremely happy at the beginning because this plugin does everything I need for Business/Corporate websites. But once I saw the following files loaded on the front-end, I sadly deleted this plugin immediately. jquery.min.js fontawesome-free/css/all.min.css fa-brands-400.wof2 slick.min.css slick.theme.min.css magnific-popup.min.css blocks.style.css animate.min.css These days the overall Performance is very important. All the themes and Plugins I use( Kadence Blocks, Stackable, GenerateBlocks, etc…) are 100% jQuery Free. So, No jQuery is loaded on the front-end. These plugins only load 2 files on the front-end, one CSS file and one JS file. That's all. Would be Awesome is You: 1 - Replace jQuery with only vanilla javascript 2 - Replace fontawesome and your .woff2 file, with SVG icons 3 - Remove all the CSS files listed above, and use only a single one CSS file generated dynamically, so that only the used/required CSS rules are included in the single CSS file. Just like in the GenerateBlocks plugin. All the Best.

To me, it matters if the website HTML validates. It's just makes it less a headache to ensure accessibility, SEO and compatibility with your theme of choice. Getwid is the only large collection of Gutenberg blocks where +90% of the blocks outputs valid html, and that includes rather advanced blocks like the Image Hotspot, Tabs and Custom Post Types. Also, the developers ensured compatibility with PHP 8 and the latest release of WordPress 5.7. I am sometimes reluctant to use third party blocks on my sites, as you can never know when support ends, but I have no considerations in using Getwid, support is solid and reliable.

This is a good set of free blocks. My only suggestion would be to reduce the number of similar blocks by combining them into one configurable block. For example, there are several types of progress bars and image boxes / galleries. It would be nice to have just one block and look through its configuration options to see whether it fits my requirements instead of having to try out several different blocks. It would also make the somewhat lengthy menu easier to browse, especially because the similar blocks are not grouped together.

Gutenberg blocks are the future, and here is a very nice set of blocks! Simple and effective, but also complete. I love the Content Timeline which is pretty unique in its design and functionality, and the image block which gives me consistent results (on all devices) where the other fails. Overall, I like how the blocks are designed. Thank you for making those great tools, and thank you for the support as well. Best wishes!

We've been using the genesis blocks plugin for a while now and love the ability to use layouts inside of the editor to quickly get started. They're all look great and are easy to customize. We had a bug with the youtube video player in the header on ios devices, went to the forums and the team were already working on a fix and had it released a week later! Very impressive support!
