• I installed this plugin accidently while searching for the original “better search replace” plugin. This plugin is just a clone and doesn’t do anything extra.
However, it does have complicated UI and is slower compared to “better search replace”.

It doesn’t allow “select all” for all tables and doesn’t allow bulk changes which are existing in “better search replace”.

@mtuhin After reviewing this review, we have determined that it is a valid review and will remain up. In this context, it appears that “copy” and “clone” just mean it’s another plugin which has the same primary purpose.

We have some recommendations for how you can handle this at https://make.wordpress.org/support/2016/08/about-plugin-and-theme-reviews/

    Please also read through https://make.wordpress.org/plugins/2019/08/23/reminder-developers-must-comply-with-the-forum-guidelines/

@macmanx Thanks for your reply. Actually if you think with that kind of context then almost everything is a copy in the software development. Iphone / Samsung, Apple OS / Microsoft Windows do the same primary thing. Would you call it a copy of each other?

My plugin doesn’t do the same thing he’s mentioned. It has extra features, different UI, different functionalities. It work differently then the plugin he mentioned. If you don’t want to remove the rating that’s ok. But logically it’s not. It’s not a copy from a single portion of the plugin he mentioned & I am 100% sure this guy hasn’t tested it properly and missed the details and guideline and instruction video written in plugin detail page.

    Thanks

Hi there @mtuhin as I stated, you are welcome to discuss this in the #forums channel on Slack. I did not say you are welcome to discuss this in the forums.

But, since you’d like to continue here publicly, that second paragraph you made would have been a great basis for a reply to the reviewer.

Remember, a review is about a user’s experience with your plugin. They are allowed to have a bad experience with your plugin, share that, and make comparisons to other plugins as a part of sharing that experience.

Again, please read through https://make.wordpress.org/support/2016/08/about-plugin-and-theme-reviews/ and https://make.wordpress.org/plugins/2019/08/23/reminder-developers-must-comply-with-the-forum-guidelines/

If you have read through those two posts and would still like to discuss this further, please join us in the #forums channel on Slack: https://make.wordpress.org/chat/

Hi @mtuhin , I want to say it to you that I have tested your plugin and followed the detail, and I still found it difficult to use. Sheerly because I have used “Better search replace” which is clearly easy to set up and use.

Example, the search result UI in your plugin is unfriendly. It shows unnecessary content and images and one cannot apply all the changes at once.

The reason I used the word “copy” is that the name “Better find and replace” is identical to “Better search replace”. Also, your plugin is just 20 months old and the latter is more than 5 years old.

Another example is that your plugin uses the same labels for options, e.g., “dry run” for not making changes to the database.

You have all the rights to provide same features and monetise them, but I personally believe that you should at least keep the name and UI different so that end users do not feel baited.

hello @hitinder, I will still say you haven’t tested my plugin properly..

Example, the search result UI in your plugin is unfriendly. It shows unnecessary content and images and one cannot apply all the changes at once.

I would be happy if you can post a screenshot where did you see unnecessary content and images.

The reason I used the word “copy” is that the name “Better find and replace” is identical to “Better search replace”. Also, your plugin is just 20 months old and the latter is more than 5 years old.

It’s not identical!! Identical means similar in every detail; exactly alike. My plugin is ‘better find and replace’ their is ‘better search and replace’. If you search in the plugin directory you would find identical plugin. There is almost similar plugin to the plugin you mentioned. There name is almost same. You can call them identical.
Also, still i’m sure you haven’t tested / read / see instruction video I have posted. My plugin is 5 years old not 20 months – take a look here the development log – https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/log/real-time-auto-find-and-replace/
Recently the name has been changed.

Another example is that your plugin uses the same labels for options, e.g., “dry run” for not making changes to the database.

There is a lot of other plugins which using the same label ‘dry run’. They haven’t copyright the word! If you compare with their dry run, they just shows how many changes and where would be change. My plugin shows, each rows / columns / tables where the changes will be made. This is not copy. If you think this is a copy, you will see there is another dozens of plugins doing the same thing.

My plugin has modern UI then the plugin you mentioned. There is a lot of plugins doing the same primary purpose. That doesn’t mean that is copy. My plugin’s has extra features / functionalities.

    Hi @mtuhin
Please stop bothering my team members with your annoying phone calls at odd hours. Also, what should I make of this email you sent me asking “what is my problem”?

Hello @macmanx , is there something we can do about @mtuhin calling our company staff and sending emails to remove the review?

    Hello @hitinder,
Please stop posting this kind of false statement and screenshot. I don’t know you and where are you from. There is no clue to know you. How do I send you message!

Dear @macmanx, as I have mentioned in my above comment that this guy is trying to de-motivate people and trying to promote other plugin here. He is posting bad review completely intentionally. Also he’s creating new profile and posting reviews what I’ve found similarity on another review’s. Which is insane. He hasn’t answered my questions or information I’ve asked my previous comment. If he was an actually user he would answer. So, In my guess this guy is trying to materialization of different agendas. This kind of user is really harmful for #WordPressCommunity. We the team, doing hard work and user like him spoiling this. Please take a proper action as community moderator.
