The pandemic hit right as the project was starting, so it took much longer than expected, but none of the delays that occurred were Joe's fault, and he was responsive and transparent throughout the project. The final cost was in line with Joe's estimate aside from some scope changes that we agreed to in the middle of the project, and the quality of the work was excellent. Phalan Construction & The HandymanWe hired Bob Phalan to replace the surrounding trim after we had installed new garage doors. He estimated 1½ days. But upon removal of the exist aluminum siding, structural damage including carpenter ant damage and a rusted-cracked lally column were discovered. Bob made required repairs replacing 2x4s, the lally column, plywood, insulation, wall board, and plastering. Then he was able to begin work on the vinyl trim. We showed Bob a photo of the “look” we wanted to achieve and he achieved it perfectly. He was at our home for 3 very long days, the cost of his work was very reasonable.- Christopher W.

Phalan Construction & The HandymanBob is very detail oriented and worked hard. He works by the hour so it is important to me that he worked dilligently and smartly so that i was not wasting my money. he knew what he was doing with carpentry and did a thorough job. he had to match the flooring in a section and install it so that it fit visually with little to no seam which he did a great job on. For the cabinetry work he had good ideas on how to proceed and gave us several options. he is very experienced so he is perfect for problem solving a complex fix or project.- Michael C.

Bertola Custom Homes & RemodelingJoe and his team did a superb job of renovating my bathroom in a 1929 vintage building in Cambridge, MA. The final result is modern and highly functional while looking beautiful in an older building. Joe helped me pick materials and finishes that I would not have discovered on my own. He and his team were respectful of my home making sure that there was as little disruption as possible and wore masks and maintained distance at all times. When I miscommunicated with a house cleaner near the end of the project, Joe did much of the cleaning himself. Above and beyond. Last but not least, the work was finished on time. Amazing. They wanted $165 minimum for a project that would take them a total of 10 minutes. I would do it myself but I want to be sure it gets put back in place correctly (i.e. straight and flush). That price is ridiculous.
