  • Abacus Plumbing Air Conditioning & Electrical
    5.0
I had requested quotes from 3 different companies for the same scope. I chose Abacus because they found out that my evaporator coil was under warranty (the other 2 could not get that information from Trane). They came and did the work professionally.

  • Rick O's Construction & Remodeling
    5.0
Excellent job. The project was started early Feb and was interrupted somewhat by the unexpected freeze (2/15/2021). That being said, the project was completed by mid April. Rick O and his crew were professional, respectful of our privacy and of our needs, and maintained safe practices regarding the Covid pandemic. The crews were skilled and obviously took pride in their work.

  • Distinguished Designs
    5.0
Third time we’ve used Eric, owner of Distinguished Designs. Previous jobs were a laundry room remodel and the addition of a detached outdoor patio with roof. This time it was a beach house remodel in Galveston. We’ve found that Eric has very good attention detail, used highly skilled crews, and is very knowledgeable in all aspects of construction. Feeling comfortable with Eric’s abilities, what started as an “add another bathroom” job turned into a complete remodel. We are very happy with the end product and would not hesitate to use Eric again. Many of our neighbors have seen the finished remodel and requested Eric’s contact information. I highly recommend Eric.

We were thoroughly pleased with both the professional and personable way Brian and his team worked with us from the original visit for a quote to the completion of the replacements. Highly recommend Dynamic Air and Heating. Happy to support a local business!

  • Cypress Creek Air Conditioning & Heating Co
    5.0
Garrett and three other technicians were timely for the appointment, courteous, professional, and did an excellent job. I did have a slight problem after the installation as my drip pan was filling up with water and cut off the condenser to the other AC unit I didn't have replaced. Dave, the president of the company came out on short notice and resolved the problem with my 20-year-old drip line (which was plugged). He had to make two trips to his house to get some tools and material to complete the job. You don't get that kind of care from most companies these days. I highly recommend Cypress Creek!

  • Dynamic Air and Heating
    5.0
The AC went out at 5pm Thursday night. It was a long, hot, miserable night. I called Dynamic Air and Heating around 8am the next day and Greg Riddle came over around lunchtime. He then diagnosed the problem within a matter of minutes. He told me the options I had in front of me. He wanted to make sure that I knew what the details were before moving forward. Even though my house was very hot, Greg never made me feel pressured to make a decision. He is patient, thorough, and honest. We discussed the options and went forward with the one we felt comfortable with. After trouble shooting it became clear that our outside AC unit was broken. Greg told me that he was going to check around for available units that he could get that day. Within the hour, Greg called to update me about the availability of AC units and because he has a great relationship with one of the major names in the industry, he was able to get me a MASSIVE DISCOUNT! He and his crew (Alex & Coleman) were back at my house about an hour later and started working on the install IN THE RAIN. By 3pm my house started to cool down. Start to finish, Dynamic Air was incredible. I rarely spend the time to write reviews but in this case, it is a pleasure! I give Dynamic Air and Heating my highest recommendation!

  • Texas Premier Plumbing LLC
    5.0
Ben and his team did a great job from start to finish. I needed to replace my existing water heater after it failed during the recent Winter freeze we experienced. The price estimate for a new Rheem water heater and labor costs was very reasonable. Junior and Sean did an awesome job and were friendly and professional during the entire installation process. I especially appreciated all their hard work in solving a difficult problem they encountered and their willingness to stay late and work through it so that I could have hot water by early evening. I highly recommend Texas Premier Plumbing of Texas.

Houston Heating & Air Conditioning

It goes without saying that Houston experiences hot summers and slightly chilly winters. To shield ourselves from the extreme climate conditions precipitated during the summer and to control those randomly cold nights during the winter, homeowners often install the very best heating and air conditioning systems.

The extent to which homeowners weatherproof their homes goes a long way in determining how much money they will save every month. Here are some strategies that homeowners can use to lower their HVAC bills.

Caulking

Caulking around doorways and windows goes a long way in dramatically reducing heating and air conditioning bills. Nonetheless, homeowners ought to be beware of the fact that caulking may increase the levels of common household toxins such as carbon monoxide. Therefore, it should be undertaken by experts.

Temperature Regulation

During the sweltering summers that characterize Houston, it is advisable for homeowners to raise the household temperature especially when they are away from home. A misconception abounds, that cooling a home consumes an almost equal amount of energy to that would have been saved had the thermostat stayed constant. In the frigid winter days, homeowners should also lower their thermostats when not in the house.

Proper Maintenance of AC and HVAC Systems

According to the Energy Institute, the effectiveness of heating and cooling systems depends on how well they are maintained. Procedures that are often overlooked may end up affecting the effectiveness of these systems.

These procedures include the replacement of filters. Typically, filters are disposable, inexpensive and therefore, easy to replace. AC filters ought to be replaced every three months. This improves the flow of air into the heating and cooling appliances, thus enhancing the quality of air inside the houses.

Homeowners should similarly schedule regular inspections of their heating and air conditioning units to ensure optimum efficiency. Neglecting the systems goes a long way in increasing their utility bills - a qualified HVAC company can help with maintenance of old systems and installation of new systems.

Installing a New HVAC System in Houston

There are several resources for homeowners in Houston that need to install a new system:

Houston Permitting Center - research permits and requirements if you are installing a new system or replacing an old.

Schedule a City Inspection - make sure your heating or cooling system is safe and up to code.

Research Angie's List Houston - it's free to read reviews and find the best air conditioning pro.

Useful Energy Conservation Tips

There are a number of tips that can enable homeowners who have installed heating and cooling systems, to significantly lower their utility bills. Those who have AC systems should consider using heat-generating devices such as dryers, ovens, and washers during the cooler hours of the day. In winter, it helps heat the house while it reduces the stress on AC systems in the summer.

To fully benefit from their cooling and heating systems for longer, Houston homeowners should ensure that the units are operating reliably and efficiently at all times.
