Southern Star RoofingWe had a leak in our roof and called five different companies to give us quotes. Of the five, Greg at Southern Star was by far the most professional. He came out right away and sent me multiple photos of the leak, giving me a thorough explanation of how the leak likely occurred and the cost of repair. We ended up asking for a quote to re-shingle the entire roof, and the Southern Star quote also beat the other quotes. Greg went out of his way to call around and find matching log siding to repair our dormer along with the roof re-shingle. Just when we getting ready to schedule the repair, our well was struck by lightning, pushing the roof work out a whole month. During that time, Greg checked in on us weekly, never pushy, just making sure our well repair was going smoothly and following up with shingle colors and other details so that we could get the roof repaired as soon as the well was fixed. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Southern Star- from Greg our point man to Alex in the office as well as the guys who did the work- outstanding company all around! MainLine Remodel, LLCThe job was more extensive than originally anticipated. Travis with MainLine Remodel kept me in the loop the whole time and explained recommendations and followed up with pictures. Travis and MainLine Remodel went above and beyond. I live out of town and rent the property. It was very reassuring to have someone there I can trust to do a quality job and to identify areas of concern. Travis identified an improperly installed window that was leaking. He and his team corrected the issue. The incorrectly installed window/leak was not identified by property managers hired to manage the property in the past. Due to the good work, I had the MainLine team do some extra handyman tasks while onsite (e.g. check on a leak spot on the bathroom ceiling). I am very happy with the work performed by Travis and MainLine Remodel. The job was not cheap, but I know I paid for quality work. Travis and the team were busy and had to reschedule a few times, but I understand that speaks to the demand for their services.- Kelly K.

Reasons we DO NOT recommend this company: -Did not do everything in contract. Contract said to replace flashing around chimney- DID NOT DO. -Charged for services not performed. -Roofers were drinking on the job. Found proof in our back yard after they left. -Had to call them back to "repair" what they had just "finished". We got up on the roof after they left for the day. They said they were done. My husband found 14 things that weren't done right. Took pictures of them all. Including, but not limited to, roofing nails not all the way in, roofing boots not sealed correctly, drip edge damaged, and flashing not replaced around chimney. Shotty work. The joints in the fascia in the front of the house do not meet. There is a significant gap that was stuffed with caulk. When I mentioned the eyesore, he stuffed it with MORE caulk instead of fixing it right. -No pride in work, they just tried to get it done, and get out. -The owners of the company seemed like they didn't really know their workers. Almost like they hired someone off the street for the day. -Did NOT honor refund on services not performed. It has been almost two months and we still haven't gotten our refund. They have been given PLENTY of time. - Used Googled images in their quotes, not their own work.

Today is Sunday, Feb 9 and Baker Roofing was at our building helping us figure out what our 113 year old building in downtown Asheville was leaking. They took the time to go on the roof and found out that the roof they put on was sound. Next, they went up the side of the building and sound a brick missing in the wall which was allowing the water to come in. This is not their wheel house, but they foamed and caulked the hole and ended our problem that has been going on for some time. No one else could find the problem. Baker Roofing has stood by us for 4 years. They are an honest and reliable company and enjoyable to work with.

Within an hour or two after requesting a quote I heard from K&B. They came out that afternoon to look at the job and within a day I was texted a quote that I considered reasonable and we hired them. The weather was against us but they scheduled our repair within a reasonable time. They did a wonderful job. They were friendly and I would definetly hire them again.
