Our two-year old Bosch dishwasher (out of warranty) was not operating correctly. Absolute Appliance Repair sent Jim to do the repair. He discovered the main board had burned out and replaced it to the tune of $453 without examining what caused the board to burn out. The next time we tried the dishwasher, it still had the same problem. We called Absolute Appliance Repair again, and Jim returned. After a more extensive examination, which meant pulling the dishwasher out and looking it over (which he did not do the first visit) he discovered we had a mice problem. Mice had eaten thru the wiring. This is what has caused the board to burn out. He said it would be too expensive to fix the problem the mice had caused, and recommended we buy a new dishwasher. (Which we did, from another company.) He said Absolute Appliance Repair could not refund our $453 for the first call, even though it did not fix the dishwasher. To help "make it right," he said he would install the new dishwasher at no cost, saving us perhaps $100. (He did a totally unsatisfactory job of installing the new dishwasher, requiring us to call in another service, but that is another issue.) We called the Absolute Appliance Repair owner to complain about the failure to return our money. It seemed to us that if Jim had correctly diagnosed the problem in the first place, he would not have installed the new board. Basically, we were being charged for a repair that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM .The owner of Absolute Appliance Repair was clearly not happy with the fact we were calling. "I want you to be happy, so what do you want?" was what he said, but his tone of voice said just the opposite. He was clearly upset that he had to deal with us. When I suggested what I thought was a reasonable solution, he hemmed and hawed and offered to repay a very small portion of what we paid. We believed we should have been paid a full refund. In short, Absolute Appliance Repair failed to diagnose the problem, charged us $453 for a repair that DID NOT WORK, and then failed to refund our money for the botched job.
