They were fast and efficient. They did leave the chips from the stump grinding which I thought they would remove. It cost me 300 more dollars to have them removed. The contract said remove all green waste. So I feel like the cleanup and removal costs weren't disclosed ahead of time.

Recent Review: We hired on Urban Forest Pro to remove one group of unhealthy trees in our back yard that were covering our deck, and obstructing sunlight. Urban Forest Pro advised us on the best way to remove these trees, and also pointed out other trees that were in an unhealthy condition, and should either be significantly trimmed back or removed altogether. We agreed with them on a two phased approach to the removals. As a part of the process, removal permits were necessary for some of the trees. Urban Forest Pro filed for the necessary permits, counseled and advised officers from our neighborhood association speaking as expert Arborists, and also upon further interaction with the city, were able to efficiently build the case for which trees needed removal as hazards. I would certainly do business with them again if needed. They were professional, efficient, reliable, and excellent communicatiors.

Recent Review: I had a wasteland at the right side of my property, where the ground was uneven and was covered in pebbles, white rock and dirt. I asked my Neighbor who she had contracted with to do her Patio remodel. She told me "Black Diamond".? I contacted them and made an appointment for their Design Representative to call on me and give me a free design and bid for my side yard.? George Heropoulos called and looked at the "problem".? He took measurements and photos and said he would call the next week for an appointment to show me the design and bid price. I accepted the bid he presented and signed the Contract on June 30, 2014. The work commenced on July 29, 2014 by Hector, the Foreman and his two crew members.? The carefully removed a Japanese Maple tree and three Azalea bushes that I wanted to keep. The also removed some Birch tree roots that were the size of small tree limbs. The temperatures that the crew were dealing with were in the 90's. They worked solid from 7:30am through 4:30pm with a break for lunch. NO heavy machinery was used, all manual labor,? The complete job took them 4.5 days to complete. Hector also built me a gate on that side so I could exit on either side of the property. I was very pleased with the result.

Recent Review: Kolten came out and gave us the estimate and demonstrated his expertise. He was the only one who knew what kind of tree we actually had. Another company told us it was something different. We had a tree removed, fire sticks/pencil plant removed and two trees trimmed. We felt like the work was affordable.

Before I pick the right company near me to remove my tree, what other questions or factors should I consider?

  1. If no online reviews, ask them for referrals. If a tree removal company is reputable, you won't be their first client. It's perfectly acceptable to ask for references on your initial call, and if a removal company won't provide referrals, it's time to move on.
  2. Find out what equipment they use. Some types of tree removal equipment are better than others, and a removal company might need special tools to get your particular job done. On your first conversation with a prospective removal company, make sure that you clearly express the nature of the job you want accomplished, and receive assurances that the tools that the company has at their disposal will cut it. For instance, if a removal company doesn't have a crane, their reach is significantly limited.
  3. Consider all of the costs. Always ask for an estimate up-front. Even if a company provides you with an estimate without hesitation, make sure that there aren't any hidden costs.

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. If you live in an area where fires are common or a rotted out tree is threatening to fall over, you'll need to have one or more trees removed, and this task is beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner.
