Greensboro Shower Faucet Repair

I had my in-laws in town and the shower broke on a Sunday morning. Needless to say, I needed the shower repaired ASAP. I called PPS at 9:40am and they were at my house around 11am. The plumber, James, couldn't have been more polite or professional. The charges were very reasonable (flat rate fee that we were told prior to any service being performed) for coming out on a Sunday morning and he had the shower fixed in 30 minutes. I will certainly recommend PPS to my friends in the area, and if you want especially great service be sure to ask for James.

Had other work that I would have like to have done but I found $220 to replace the toilet tank flow, flapper and gaskets way out of line. Also was quoted $400 plus to replace the bathtub faucet cartridges to stop drip high. On the positive side the plumber that came was extremely nice and appointment was kept on time. I haven't had a appointment actually meet by a repair person in a long time. If prices were more reasonable would have loved to have all work performed.

In my opinion, over $400 dollars to sweat a 4 joint faucet is very excessive. I did the demo of the wall before they arrived. they were here for about an hour. I even had the new faucet ready to install. The next time I have an issue with sweated copper joints I will use 'Shark Bites' to repair the issue. BTW - no warranty on their work!

After I almost busted the pipe trying to twist off the old Delta faucet valve trim, I called Guy to finish the job. Instead of replacing the old trim, I had Guy install a new Moen valve. He worked quickly and when he left, you couldn't tell he was there (other than the new valve). He also came in about $50 under his estimate. Guy is my go-to for any plumbing need and I would recommend him to anyone.

Plumber arrived as scheduled and began to remove faulty valve cartridge. There was no local cut off, so water had to be cut off to entire house. He had trouble removing the cartridge but eventually got it out. Next he went to his truck and luckily had a coulple of spares. I'm not sure what his plan was if he didn't have any - leave us without running water until he was able to find one? After much trouble he was able to get the replacement cartridge in. It didn't work properly and so he removed it and put a different one in. That one didn't work either. He tried putting the original back in, I guess to learn how they were suppose to work. By his own admission his experience was with installing new plumbing equipment rather than repairing old. Rather than let the service meter continue to run I suggested that he just replace the entire valve assembly. While he cut a hole in the wall to access the valve I went and bought a new shower valve and faucet fixture. Afterwards, he was able to get the new one installed without any trouble. The plumber was a nice guy but didn't have the experience needed to repair the bad valve. I ended up paying for extra labor time as a result.

Appointment made the previous Friday. Owner called Monday morning to confirm correct employee had been dispatched and suggested another employee may need to come as well, depending on how bad the clog was. He related that he would not charge me for the extra employee, if needed. It was not. Paul came on time and immediately assessed what was needed and went right to work. He used a saw to cut part of an old drain line that was installed with two right angles (making it difficult to snake), and installed a smoother PVC pipe with more rounded angles (so that a snake could be more easily used in future) and a new trap (the old had rusted out). He tested the drain and determined it was draining properly, but noted that a piece he called a "pop-up" (I think) was worn and as a result, had a very small leak. However, he did not have the matching color of the piece that needed replacement, and offered me the option of changing it with a different colored piece or using a sealant around the base, after the area had thoroughly dried. He was just as thorough with the second stopped up sink and replaced the trap there as well. The shower faucet was next, and only needed a new cylinder. Finally, the valve that was no longer working, he replaced with a more efficient and longer lasting ball valve. He was friendly and professional and answered all my questions.

They gave me an 8:30 am arrival time, he was there at 8:05 am. He was very friendly and I could tell right away he knew what he was doing. He told us the rate per hour and what also impressed me was he stayed at it until the job was done. He did a fantastic job, after he left you could not tell he was ever there. The price for what was done was very reasonable. I was so pleased with the quality of the work and his very friendly attitude that I asked for his card. They are now my go to plumbing company....a job very very well done.....

PF supplied two estimates: 1) repair existing faucet (~ $200), 2) replace with new faucet (about twice as much). I signed agreement to pay for repair. PF attempted to repair, and damaged the water pipe. As this meant more work to repair, in addition to a new faucet the cost was now almost $1000. I had no choice but to pay, as the water supply for the house had to be turned off. PF said they gave me a deal, as the only fixture they had in the truck that would work was a high quality fixture which they discounted. Photo is the original shower fixture. PF should have brought up this possibility, along with a cost estimate prior to any work being done. I would expect them, as experienced plumbers, to understand this possibility. Instead, they left me feeling I was played as a sucker.

very friendly from time we called to time the job was completed. promtly scheduled the service visit and took care of these tasks. they are always careful with not tracking mud or dirt through the house. we have used them for larger jobs in the past and we have found them to be great for replacing water heaters and delaing with water lines.

They were very informative regarding their evaluation of our situation prior to making the repairs. They completed the work in just a few hours. They made recommendation to prevent furture problems with our kitchen drain.
