Poolyard and Spa

It is a local company. The person we bought the above-ground pool from has a company themselves that does all of the installation. We took an above-ground pool and made an in-ground swimming pool and we did all the concrete work around that. I don't know if they have their own website. Dan came for the installation. They did a great job and they had the pool put in within a week or maybe two weeks.

I called and wanted to have an estimate done for a backyard pool. I spoke to Richard, and he explained to me that he sold sqaure footage of a pool and there was set pricing. He said that he didnt need to come out and give an estimate unless I was ready to sign a pool contract because as he said and quot;a pool sells itselfand quot;. I was a little taken back by the way he dealt with me on the phone, but after numerous estimates and phone calls with other pool companies, I decided to call Richard back and have him come out so I could sign pool contracts. Dean showed up to my house to do the contracts, I explained to Dean everything we wanted in our pool, and we agreed to the price and signed the contracts. We had decided that we wanted to have the construction start in late August, but do to the fault of the city and the issuance of the permits, we were not able to actually dig until mid September. The mornig of the dig, I got a surprise call that an addendum would need ot be made so that my pool would have a raised bond beam and that it would cost me a little bit extra. I decided to go ahead wtih the cost. The pool was finally dug and it was looking great! Next came the re-bar and plumbing. Those things went off without a hitch. After the re-bar and plumbing came the electrical and the gunite. The pool was really starting to take shape and look fantastic. Finally the concrete needed to be done, and after about 3 full days the concrete was done and it looks great. The plastering was done about a week later and that same day, water was already in the pool. Overall, there were some times that Richard and I argued a bit over the construction, but I am happy to report that we are still friends and he did an absolute beatiful job on the pool! I would recommend this company to anyone that is interested in buying a pool.

Mc2 Pool & Spa Inc

as a Landscape Architect, MC2Pools is the ONLY pool and spa Contractor that I recommend to my clients. They have done over 12 projects this year with my clients. The pool renovation jobs went from simple re-plaster /re-tile to making the pool smaller, less deep and the addition of spas. We have done several new design/build pool and spa projects as well. The reason I recommend them is that Brian McFall, Owner of MC2 Pools, is personally on site to ensure a high level of quality and personal attention to detail, as well as keeping the project ON BUDGET and ON TIME. A lot of pool companies give you a low ball estimate then once they have started the job you find out that a multitude of necessary items were not included in that price. MC2 Pools gives you the full price with line Item choices, right up front, and there are no additional charges later on in the project . I have recommended MC2 Pool and Spa for over 8 years, you could not find a better

Their pricing was reasonable and the technician was extremely knowledgeable. They did not fool around with multiple visits; they came out, did it and left. I would not do pool service with anybody else but them.

Aqua Dream Pools was incredible in every phase of this project. The name proved to be true. Working with Steve was truly a dream. From his design and vision through every step of the project, Steve was as good as it gets. His management of our project made it go far quicker and far smoother than we could have imagined...and the finished product was nothing short of spectacular!

Steve and his pool team are on point. Steve has his pool installation process down and things flowed smoothly. He was quick to respond if questions arose and he followed up throughout the process to make sure things were going well. Side-note: I recommend choosing your tile and coping early in the process so it can be ordered and ready to go. Our coping wasn’t in stock (no fault of Steve’s) but waiting for it to come in put a hold on our project for a bit. We are very happy with the end result and our family is enjoying the new pool! Thanks Steve for a job well done!

From start to finish - EXCELLENT communication. I always knew who was coming and when, and what they were supposed to do. I didn't have to be home for anything. The project manager came out several times to check on the work, and if something was amiss, he made sure it got on the work order list and taken care of. The city caused most of the trouble; we had an inspector who clearly had personal issues - he took them out on me, but Burkett's did everything this guy came up with at absolutely no extra cost to me - just a substantial loss of time, but completely out of Burkett's control. They were there the minute inspections got signed off. There are still a couple of punch list items to take care of, but they got the last check and haven't forgotten me! I would use this company for anything I needed done that they can do.

LAR Construction & Remodeling

We were referred to LAR Construction & Remodeling by a family friend and we contacted Gili, scheduled a meeting and provided him the vision of what we wanted to have and to also know how much we can spend. Gili came back with his laptop and with a 3D design of the pool including all the hardscape that by far surpassed all of our hopes and his proposal estimate was also within our budget (which means that he listened to us and understood our needs very good). Gili even made some modifications to the placement of the pool which maximized the space of the backyard. Gili estimated the remodeling project as a 3 months project (on a daily basis). We believed that it will take much longer because the type of the pool that needed a cut into the hillside, hardscape, sprinklers and more and more... But surly enough, they were done with the project a little bit longer than the 3 months. We do recommend Gili and all his team to anyone who is looking to design and build a pool. Gili helped us picking out all the colors for the stones around the pool.

Laguna Pool & Spa, Inc.

They are fantastic. I have never had anybody take as much time and it is was just a really wonderful experience. My daughter was having her 50th birthday and she wanted to have it at our home. The pool was empty for years and so we had him come out and they gave us an estimate. They went every place with us, like to pick up my tile and everything. They went with us to pick out everything. They were fantastic and I asked them to get it done in 2 weeks as my daughters birthday was on 30th July and they got it done. It was being filled the day before the birthday. It was just gorgeous. I like the way they gave the estimate and they mentioned in it that if we run into such and such a problem then it would be such a price and so we were not surprised. When they got to the point they showed us what was happening and asked how we wanted to handle it. It was just hands on and just good communication. It was fantastic and I was so thrilled because I didn't think it was possible to get the pool done but it was. It was a wonderful experience. Their price was excellent and I had asked with someone and it was awesome. They had people who were plumbers and electricians that worked with the pool and we have used them since. I called them just because they were so professional and asked him about different people. He is just unbelievable.

I was so impressed with them. They are absolutely fantastic. They are honest. I can't say enough about them. Somebody told me to try them, and when we did, they wrote out what needed to be done. Then, they wrote out that if certain things happen, it would cost more. They were right up-front. They showed us every step of the way. They got it done in a timely manner. I was going to have a 50th birthday, and I wanted the pool redone. They did it in 2 weeks. I like their honesty and straightforwardness. They are courteous. I was amazed.

They were very thorough in their work. This job was actually the second time they resurfaced, and they did it at no charge because the after the first time they did it we started getting some rust spots. They came out and diagnosed that the surface material was defective, and went back to the manufacturer to hold them accountable. I was very pleased that they stood behind their work and redid the job at no charge to me.

Thomas Pools

I recommend people truly understand the design, plans, timeline and details before hiring. There was a five week delay and there were misunderstandings where to put the pool equipment and we had to have them move it twice. Their biggest asset was Jorge who built the patio and barbecue and he did a wonderful job. The pool part however was a struggle but they were very responsive in coming out and taking care of the problems.

MARIN LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT

Many, many problems from the start. One of our biggest mistakes was to hire MLM (a landscape contractor) for the project. They could not do the electrical upgrades for the pool or the pool itself. This forced me to use their recommended electrical contractor which was also problematic. There were dozens and dozens of problems throughout the project. It began with the pool being dug to the wrong size to it ending with the patio raising above the pool coping because of expansive clay under the slab (per the engineers report). This has forced us to remove a portion of the bluestone patio, excavate the clay soil, replace and compact with base rock before re-doing the top surface. I strongly recommend that you talk to multiple references about their experiences with this contractor and follow the guidelines set forth by the CSLB.

Recent Review: Burkett's removed the old cracked asbestos kool-deck surrounding the pool, poured a completely new pool deck, removed a spa wall, put in new channel drains, pressure tested existing plumbing, replaced old 3 way valves at pump location, replaced old pool light, and refinished the pool with a beautiful new pebble finish along with new tile at the water line. Work was done on time at budget. Communication with me was very good, no surprises. I was out of town for the pool start-up so they coordinated with my regular pool service folks. Had one issue with the way a pool timer was rewired which caused a timer failure. Burkett's replaced the timer at no charge to me. Overall I was very pleased and I love the pool.

Swimming Pool Installation Q & A:

What factors should I consider before adding a swimming pool?

For above-ground pools, installation involves clearing a suitable, flat area, assembling the pool, installing the liner, filling the pool, and adding accessories like heaters, cleaners and decks. In-ground pool installation is far more involved, requiring significant excavation and site preparation. Four main choices:

  • Concrete
  • Fiberglass
  • Vinyl liner
  • Gunite

Other options: pool shape, size, and depth. Yes, the installation process is complicated.

How much does installing a swimming pool near my house cost?

  • Above-ground pools installed by a local service can cost $10,000 or more, with accessories like heaters, fencing and wrap-around decks.
  • The average cost of all pools (both above- and in-ground pools) is $24,699 - prices can range from $12,368 to $37,437.
  • Do-it-yourself above-ground kits may only cost around $300.
  • In-ground pools are a serious investment that also potentially adds home value, possibly increasing the price tag by $33,000 to $57,000.

Which swimming pool installer near me should I hire?

  • Angie's List recommends that homeowners think carefully about installing a swimming pool.
  • Only hire licensed, experienced contractors.
  • Ensure all bidders have liability insurance.
  • Get three competitive bids that explain the entire scope of work.
  • Talk to an insurance rep about your homeowners insurance.
  • Read your homeowners association's rules.

What is a gunite swimming pool?

It's a swimming pool formed by spraying a concrete, mortar and sand mixture called shotcrete (also known as gunite) over a steel rebar frame in the shape of the pool. In the end, it's a durable concrete swimming pool.

While most homeowners welcome a new swimming pool, a poorly installed or poorly maintained swimming pool can decrease home value. Nothing beats the freedom and easy access of a home swimming pool on a hot summer day. Getting one is easy, but seldom inexpensive. Do your homework, and choose a swimming pool wisely.
