It's a designer's job to design for people who use - screens - screen readers - screen magnifiers - touch screens - trackpads - voice input - keyboard-only (a non exhaustive list)

When people ask me whether I'd go for bionic vision if it were an option, it's a complex question to answer. However, it never occurred to me that the tech could just stop working with no hope of a fix. Their Bionic Eyes Are Now Obsolete and Unsupported

I've thought for years about the livejournal/fansite to engineering pipeline, so yeah this makes sense

Long COVID is why millions of people are not ready to accept they must get this virus eventually. We all know people suffering. We know it's real. And we know it seems to affect at random. It's an ENORMOUS barrier to any "return to normal" and it is never discussed.

FYI: Telling people who are terrified of catching covid, “it’ll be okay, it won’t be that bad, you’re overreacting and everyone will get it” is real fucked up because y’all don’t know that, you have no clue how it’ll affect some folks because you don’t know their health status.

My personal 2021 recap (let's pretend I actually wrote this before 2021 ended). Lots of baking, pets, plants, and a little travel.

My site is now using a block-based theme, and I wrote about my experience building it. Spoiler: new things are hard, but once it clicks it'll be pretty powerful.

My teammates have mostly been leading the charge on the News redesign, but I joined in last week to help out. It's exciting to bring such a great design to & it's the start of a whole-site refresh- using a block-based theme, too!

I've been working hard the last few months to get the Pattern Directory ready, and soon you'll be able to design, build, and submit your own patterns for anyone to use:

The Angle Bracket FINAL FOUR!
What a ride it's been! Thousands of people have voted in every round over the last week and it's all come down to this, an absolute travesty of the web that we're about to shrink even further down to just 2 tags.

Welcome to round 3! Round 2 saw all but the strongest eliminated. There were some shockers: every single <h*> is out,
is gone,
and both failed to make the cut. But that's nothing compared to the match-ups in round 3. Round 3 is CHAOTIC.

This is so horrifying. Our mobility devices aren’t just luggage. They’re not just things we can replace quickly. They are life saving and allow us to move about the world unharmed

Are you a product or project manager in the space? Are you interested in learning how WordPress core "works"? Then I'd love to mentor you and act as a docent to help show you around in hopes of bringing in more folks to contributing to core!
