Window UniverseWindow Universe installed new windows throughout our house in February 2021. We received eight, yes EIGHT, quotes for the job (imagine sitting through that many demos!) and ultimately decided to go with WU based on their professionalism, price, and quality of window. From our first interaction, Andy was very professional - he did a remote quote for us and did some Zillow sleuthing to get a visual of our windows. He pointed out potential issues and made more thoughtful recommendations than the other sales guys that came out to our house in-person! The quote was provided by the end of the phone call so we didn't have to wait around for days. Next, Will came out to take measurements. He was very courteous, professional, and took COVID protocols seriously, which we greatly appreciated since we were like actual hermits before the vaccines were available. Will led the crew during install on a FREEZING two days. They were in and out and cleaned up their mess. We *did* have an issue with the butterfly handle on our awning window falling off. We were going to live with it but ultimately decided to call and see if we could get it fixed because it was a daily annoyance as it was right above the kitchen sink. Peggy was so nice and attentive and made sure to pass the service request to Dustin, who took care of scheduling straightaway. Both wanted to make sure we were totally satisfied. So, Will came back today. He sorted out our issue by replacing the handle piece. He also took the time to answer several questions we had now that we've lived with the windows for a few months. As for the product itself, Energy Star doesn't qualify every window out there but of the windows that DO get rated, OKNA outperformed or was at parity with all the windows in it's class: ProVia, Pella, etc. A note about the name Window Universe... do NOT get them confused with Universal Windows! That was the first company that quoted us and their price was $8000 higher. I think those sneaky guys pay money to make sure their company gets floated to the top of the Google Search if you type in "Window Universe" too so just be careful not to confuse them... Window Universe is who you want to go with!! All in all, we are 100% satisfied with the service, communication, professionalism, and product quality we received from Window Universe. Coming from a family of contractors, I generally hiring the actual individual who's doing the specific job. However, I am so happy I hired Home Exteriors to handle everything on my rental for me! Gary came out to give me the estimate for my complete exterior makeover and I was immediately 'smitten' by his professionalism! Being a big project, I actually met with 5 contractors this time. For the "price contentious" people out there, one estimate was considerably less, another a few hundred less, one was slightly higher and the 5th much higher. Strange but true. I chose to go with Home Exteriors because of his professionalism, his taking the time to actually care and make 'very helpful' suggestions and because of their quality of work as mentioned in their reviews. The work I had done was a complete tear off and new roof, new vinyl siding, with shake and nice accent trim, (which we went over together a few times and he helped me), new gutters and glass block windows. They had a different team of workers for each of the projects which I found to be best. All did excellent work in a timely manner. He also did a great job of getting rid of so many 'unnecessary' electrical wires hanging everywhere from all the different tenants thru the years. My only concern was the gutter guys he used didn't 'take the initiative' to finish off a downspout that was left open hanging towards the driveway with a sharp edge. That surprised me. I called Gary and he sent someone over there immediately! I highly recommend them. I'm still doing my happy dance! 10 stars out of 5! Their crew then worked through the winter to first install the glass block, then windows, then siding, and final cleanup in a very quick, efficient manner while achieving outstanding workmanship at the same time. Dave would call to let me know when materials and crew would arrive and what would be done the whole way as well as check in from time to time to see how things were going. Everyone I encountered with this company handled themselves in a very professional, courteous manner. You can tell they like what they are doing, know what they are doing, and appreciate their customers. It was an experience I can't say I have had with any other home improvement contractor before. THE WINDOWS THEY BROUGHT WE''RE NOT FITTING AS WELL AS EXPECTED AND THEY CALLED IN TO HAVE SOMEONE DELIVER BETTER FITTING WINDOWS, ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR LATER. THE CLEAN UP JOB COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER INSIDE, THERE WAS SOME REMAINING CEMENT (USED TO SECURE WINDOW) LEFT ON THE FLOOR FROM THE OLD WINDOW AND FROM INSTALLING NEW WINDOW.- DAN C.

Home Exteriors Roofing, Siding and WindowsAlthough Home Exteriors gave us the most expensive quote of the 3 we received, we decided to go with them because they were the most thorough and we were able to get 0% financing for 1 year through their affiliate bank. We had a wood exterior that had been painted numerous times and needed a new paint job or siding. The windows that needed to be replaced were original (circa 1956). Lastly, we had a couple of downspouts in need of repair, so we decided to replace all of them along with the gutters. The project spanned over 2 months (late August-late October). The duration of the project lasted longer because we were out of town for one week and weather slowed some things down. For the most part we knew when guys were showing up to the house. We had to call a couple of times to verify when the next phase was going to begin. As soon as we called, we had crews to our house within days. We had different crews for each part of this project: 1 for glass block, 1 for the picture window, 1 for gutters and downspouts, and 1 for siding. Most of the crew members were very polite and professional. The crew that installed the picture window was very fast and went over the features of the new window when they were done, which I liked. They were the only ones who voluntarily took the time to go over their work. The siding and gutter/downspout crews could have done a better job cleaning up. We found coffee cups and/or scraps of material in our yard from both sets of crews. The trash left behind was minimal and not worth calling them back as far as we were concerned. However, we thought it worth mentioning here for those who have a lower tolerance for this type of thing. We had problems opening up our storm doors from the enclosed patio. They were catching on the new gutters and only opening part-way. We called Home Exteriors and they had the guys out the next day to fix the problem. We think the problems with clean-up and the storm doors could've been prevented entirely if they had us take a look around before they left. In both cases, the crews were gone before we even realized the work was done. When the gutter/downspout crew came back out to fix the issue with the storm doors, they did ask us to come out an take a look before they left the second time. Overall, we're very happy with the results of the work. The new siding, gutters and downspouts make the house look like new. The glass block windows bring in a lot of light to our garage while maintaining privacy. And lastly, the new picture window looks great and is much more energy-efficient.- Mandarin R.

Barney and his crew were exceptional. He was one of the first to respond and provide a quote, which was very reasonable, and quoted 2 weeks to complete vs 4-5 weeks from others. His workmanship, ideas and attention to detail were great. The couple of subs he used (electrical and plumbing) were good, showed up as scheduled, etc. I’ve already recommended him to a friend. We are extremely pleased with the job Bob and his son did in rebuilding a stone flower planter that had fallen into disrepair. They removed the sandstone caps; dug to expose the existing inner wall, which they removed; replaced parts of the footer; disassembled, cleaned and reinstalled the existing stone outer wall; installed a new inner wall with weep holes for drainage and reinforced it with rebar; sealed the inner wall; backfilled with gravel for improved drainage; and installed new sandstone caps. The result is a planter that looks brand new, but is better constructed than the original. Bob and his son also tuckpointed several areas on the house wall, grinding out the old mortar and carefully replacing it with new mortar that they color-matched to the rest of the house. We had difficulty finding a mason to do this job and would recommend Perozeni Masonry without reservation. They did meticulous work and treated our home and yard as their own. We could not be happier with the job they did.

AMAZING! I first met AJ who walked me through the process and made me feel at ease. I chose my materials and signed the contract. It took about a month to get the materials back. But once they were in, 3 days later and my project was complete. It is BEAUTIFUL! The guys who did the work were all very kind. They worked hard and cleaned up each night better than it was the day before! My entire neighborhood keeps telling me how good it looks. I think they are all jealous. I went with Shake siding on the front...it looks like a coastal cottage almost. So lovely. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND. Great from beginning to end. Thank you all!

This is the second job I've done with Gilbert & Gilbert, and I plan on using them again. They do excellent work, are very reasonably priced, and can usually get to my job quickly. Last year, they rebuilt my front steps (which look fantastic), so I turned to them again for the tuck-pointing. Greg Gilbert is responsive to my calls, and I can always get in touch with him when I need him. When some additional, unexpected work arose on the back stair rebuild -- as happens with old houses - Greg warned me immediately, and the price increase was quite fair, given the additional work. His quotes are detailed and clear, and always reflect what we've talked about and what he actually does.
