For the friends I'm always annoying with podcast and news article recommendations, now you can read about the ones I enjoyed most during 2017 in bulk form. My faves:

To finish, it’s a shame that such disregard for basic human needs runs rampant in Fort Wayne especially. It will hurt the ongoing development here ultimately. Every day my youthful peers mention similar stories of manager incompetence, awful pay, and lack of basic benefits.

Ugh, at some of these unnamed businesses despite cynically knowing none of them will change their dinosaur ways. Really hoping something works out with an Indy business. Seems like a more culturally progressive and human needs-centric city. 🤷🏽‍♂️

And yes, I do like to travel frequently—def on the cheap—bc it allows me to recharge my mental well-being, thus returning to work with newfound enthusiasm and creativity. Baffling how often hypocrites criticize my wanderlust only to then vacation to shit tourist traps and resorts

Plus hobbies like photography can be decently expensive and the more I pour into them the better your projects turn out, because let’s be real, it’s a “bring-your-own-equipment” industry. Oh yeah, and we all habe these odd little things called bills. Maybe you’ve heard of them?

How about none of your goddamn business? Your boy prioritizes his mental health and needs to get away from the horrendous industrial culture that is killing employee motivation and perpetuating a culture of burnout while the fat cats get rich not offering decent benefits.

Not to rant too much, but true story, last week I responded to a local interviewer’s salary question saying I’d like to make at least 50k a year. Their response? Well it sounds like you’re going on vacation enough already, why do you need more than 35-45k... LIKE WTF, really?!

Also, I hate that these notable organizations and “best places to work in Fort Wayne” definitely have the funds to pay for services they ask for, but choose not to. There is a surprising lack of ethics and morals in our local businesses and even nonprofit practices.

Don’t know if I should feel bad when turning down projects. So often the local community and clients want me to work for free or such a trivial amount of cash that it’s just not worth my mental energy. Think I’ll start replying with, “Hey, a guy’s gotta eat.”

I cried most of today. I felt lonely & unappreciated. None of my pants fit. I was self-concious about not fulfilling expectations or my potential. My acne flared up. My job sucked. But I’m glad I let it out, alone & in public. Isolation is more toxic than potential embarrassment.

Koko the gorilla once ripped a sink out of the wall and, when her keepers confronted her about it, she blamed her kitten, signing "cat did it." That HAD been my favorite Koko story, until I saw this: RIP to an absolute legend

Fingers crossed for a lead on cheap aluminium siding. What's needed and remains on my wishlist before it's mostly complete? - Quarter inch plywood (500-ish sqft) - 3 Windows & Door - Yeti 3000 & Two 300 watt solar panels - (🤣 in my dreams)

The idiot who goes into the middle of the street for a shot. Don’t worry, I was mindful of oncoming traffic. Pedestrians have the right of way though...lol.

No immigrant has taken a job from a "real american". You were laid off by a capitalist who took advantage of that immigrant to increase his profits, and nothing makes him happier than to hear that you're a fucking idiot who's actually mad at the immigrant and not him.

The most important message of a crucifix, was how cruel supposedly sane human beings can be when under orders from a superior authority.
