Hi, it depends… If your old posts all have the images inserted with the option “Link to: Media File” then yes, this plugin will work for your old posts automatically. Otherwise, no.
How do I insert the “Link to: Media File”?
Sorry: when you inserted an image (in the old editor) you had the option “Link to” which you could set to “Nothing”, “Attachement page” or “Media File”. This option is there in the new editor too, it just looks a bit different now (click the Link icon).
If you used to insert your images or galleries with the link option set to “Media File” then Easy FancyBox will work automatically. If not, you’d have to edit the old posts to make it work…
I just saw that thank you and have been reading online for a way to make it default for all my posts and medias. I have more than 2000 posts with images. Is there a way or php functions to set all my images to “link to media file”? will really help a lot.
It depends on how they were inserted.
Are these images inserted ‘one by one’ or always as a gallery? If the latter, then very likely they are represented as shortcodes like [gallery ids="12,34,56"]
which would make it relatively easy to target and change into [gallery link="file" ids="12,34,56"]
with either a plugin or even a database query.
If ‘one by one’ (or a mixture of the two) then it will be more difficult…
