Meet Featured ACM Distinguished Speaker Robert James Fine
Robert James Fine provides IT strategic planning consulting services to both the private sector and nonprofit communities. He launched print publications covering social media and startups, as well as VRVoice.co, a content vertical on virtual reality. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, and an ABD/PhD in Environmental Science and Public Policy from George Mason University.

Meet Patti Ordonez
Patricia (Patti) Ordóñez is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras. A Co-chair of ACM’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, she mentors and develops mentoring communities in K-12, undergraduate and graduate educational settings. She also creates assistive technologies for programming and communication to help ensure computing is accessible to all. Ordóñez is the Program Chair for the 2021 CMD-IT/ACM Richard A. Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, which will be held from September 14-17.

Meet Shyam Gollakota
Shyam Gollakota is an Associate Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, where he leads the Networks and Mobile Systems Lab. His honors include the 2012 ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award and the 2020 ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award for contributions to the use of wireless signals in creating novel applications including battery-free communications, health monitoring, gesture recognition, and bio-based wireless sensing.

Vicki Hanson on How Women Are Reshaping Computing
In her blog post for Computer Weekly's WITsend blog, ACM President Vicki Hanson discusses ACM's all-female leadership team, how diversity is helping to redefine what a computing professional is, and how the digital world is expanding career opportunities for non-technical people. "While most will not become expert, basic skills will be required for them to be effective in their careers and to deal with the myriad of online offerings for communication, entertainment, retail, and government services," she says.

2020-2021 Ambassadors for ACM Grand Prize Recipients
ACM congratulates Neil Croll, the Lead Enterprise Architect at ON Semiconductor, who won the 2020-2021 Ambassadors for ACM Grand Prize, a Google Pixel Slate. Winning the 2nd Grand Prize (Apple AirPods Pro) was Vagisha Jain, Executive Board Member, UPES ACM and ACM-W Student Chapters, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.
