AGeller Environmental Labs Inc
We were having our kitchen re-tiled and the ceramic tile was being pulled out and found to be glued down to some vinyl sheet flooring which had a fibrous backing.  Called Geller to ask about the need for testing and he had concerns it could be asbestos tile based on my description.  It was an urgent situation since 3/4 of the floor had already been pulled up and if it had contained asbestos would have been a major issue.  Jack Geller immediately got off the phone, came over and got samples and hurried back to the lab to get them submitted so we'd have an answer the next day.  We didn't stay in the house while we waited, and were very anxious about it.  Jack called me as soon as he had the results the next day, which luckily were negative. Jack was extremely responsive and got us the answer so we had minimal disruption to the work and our lives.  He was great and I would highly recommend him.  Also answered some questions of mine on the need for lead paint testing over the phone (we have not moved forward with lead testing at this point, but if we decide to I would definitely use Geller Environmental).

AEnvirometric Laboratories Inc
Envirometric uses XRF testing (as opposed to dust wipe or paint chip testing), which allows testing of paint layers beneath the surface without actually damaging the surface and which allows testing of lots of surfaces. The inspector, Chris Avery, arrived right on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer my questions and let me know exactly what he was going to do before he did it. I received the test results from Envirometric within two days in the form of a comprehensive report. I would definitely recommend Envirometric to anyone who wants to test their home for lead paint.

I have contacted this company several times about to get lead testing and how to meet MD state standards. I used them in February 2018 to test a condo I am renting. The info provided was excellent and the the owner and staff very efficient in providing the needed services and results. I received the test results in less than 5 days.

I talked with Amy in particular and she is wonderful. I did not hire them at this point but she gave me information on how to address our concerns first by doing a little more home work on own and if we need their services we will use them. The owner of this company is Jim McCabe. Amy is very knowledgeable and she guided me to do work before she thought that we would need their services. She made some suggestions that we should do, follow in terms of hiring some company to do some painting work and follow some guide lines which most of the people in painting business are not following the guide lines but since there is a lot of publicity now something like 40% of the home owners in the country have a problem especially with exterior paintings. For the sake of their workers and homeowners they should be following certain guide lines which they haven't. This company is probably getting a lot of calls because it is very hard to find painters now who are bothered in doing the whole thing. She was suggesting ways how we can go about figuring this out before we hire someone like them to come in and do the testing. She was telling me that we don't start with them and she was really very helpful. After we sift through what we need to give them a call and that they would work with us.

The appointment went very smoothly. He showed up on time, we walked through the house and prepared for everything. He was amenable and fairly laid-back. The whole inspection was done in a few minutes. After another week or so, the results were back from the lab, and he sent me the certificate. No drama, no issues, services delivered as expected and professionally.

It took some time  to nail down an appointment. The technician was late by 30 minutes or so. But when he arrived he performed the work methodically. He told me the job is going to take two hours but in the end it took about three hours. he worked slowly but carefully, taking notes drawing diagrams along the way. He told me he would try to get the report back to me the next day. But it took him three business days to get it to me.  But he delivered it to my office personally. The report is pretty formal with detailed technical data and scope of abatement suggested. So overall I don't have any complaints.

LeadProbe's technician, Danny, was an excellent, knowledgeable, professional service provider. He did a thorough review of our entire house, both inside and out, and provided a lot of additional information during the visit that was helpful. It took about 90 minutes for him to completely test our 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house. I would definitely recommend LeadProbe's services.

AAccutest Lead Inspections
Given the age of the house I was concerned about what I would find. I was surprised that it was not nearly as problematic as I thought it would be and David was a pleasure to work with. Given that I found him on Angie's List, he gave me a little discount given the size (3 story + basement) house. He also provided me with lab costs so I coud see that his expenses are not cheap and the prices he charges are reasonable considering. I will use Accutest again for my other rental property when it comes due for lead testing.

The main inspector came out and was just very good. They exceeded my expectations. I could call him any time asking questions. He was very reasonable in only charging me to check the most likely places to test, which saved me money while still keeping us safe. He was very patient and great about answering any of my questions or concerns. I ended up not buying the first house I had tested, and I called him again to test the second house that I ended up buying. He was extremely knowledgeable and treated us very well. My realtor was so impressed that she ended up recommending him to all her prospective buyers.

We were concerned about lead paint in our home (built in 1948). I called one lead inspection company, but was informed that they did not service owner occupied properties--only rentals. That company recommend LeadTec. I called Leadtec and was put in touch with one of their inspectors. He asked some questions about our property and proceeded to explain that it would be unlikely to find lead paint in the interior of a home built in 1948, but that we could find lead paint on the exterior. He provided a quote for the lead inspection, which included an extra fee for travel. (We're located outside of DC and LeadTec is based in Baltimore). The inspector arrived a few minutes earlier than our appointment time. He was friendly and took the time to answer my questions before proceeding with the inspection. He tested about 10 painted surfaces in each room, plus on the exterior of the house. At the end of his inspection, he told me the findings and promised a detailed written report within a few days. The report arrived about 10 days later (I'm guessing that the delay was partly due to the high mail volume right before Christmas). It outlines the surfaces that were tested in each room and the amount of lead detected in each painted area. It is detailed enough for us to use it to remediate the problem areas. In summary, I've pleased with Leadtec's services. They were professional, prompt, and curtious. I would recommend them to others who are concerned about the possibility of lead paint in their home.

We hired ACIS to some mold and asbestos testing at my parents home. They were very knowledgeable and responsive. Besides doing the testing they also did the abatement. They were very neat and tidy. They left the house very clean and the report they submitted to us had great information of the findings and the results. I will use them again for the other homes we own.

Susan came out on time and explained everything what the procedure for testing lead would be. I had my doubts as to lead paint being used in and around the house. Susan did a wonderful job explaining, showing and testing for lead in every place of the house. My concerns were not necessarily only lead paint but the tile that was used in the bathrooms and kitchen backsplash. (lead is sometimes used in tile manufacturing and can be just as harmful) After testing, Susan revealed lead tiles in both bathrooms which gave my wife and I some relief as we have two infants. The lead in tile, if not disturbed is not a problem for us at this time. thanks Leadtec

AOn Solid Ground Home Inspection
We hired On Solid Ground to conduct the pre-sale home inspection and radon testing of the home we are purchasing. The owner, Jerry, was incredibly polite and conducted the most thorough home inspection I've witnessed. His detailed report, complete with pictures, provided not only a summary of the items we should have repaired, but also all future maintenance required on the home room by room. I feel like he made us a and quot;how toand quot; guide to tend to future home. Since our future home tested high for radon, we have asked the sellers to implement a radon mitigation system. Jerry will provide us with a free follow up test after the other contractor has completed the system. Bonus!

ACapital Beltway Environmental LLC
Capital Beltway Environmental was extremely helpful and responsive when we called on short notice to have lead testing performed on our front & back porches and in our yard. Their industrial hygenist was very helpful and provided useful advice on how to correct the contamination we found. They also recommended a risk assessor to perform a more detailed, whole-house assessment testing for the presence of lead paint, which the abatement contractors we spoke to indicated was a prerequisite to working up an estimate for the clean-up work. Beyond their testing services, CBE provided us with a great deal of good advice and support during a very stressful period in which we did not have a firm idea how expensive or extensive the clean-up efforts would ultimately be. We would recommend them to anyone who believes they are facing a lead contamination problem in or around their home.

AHomeTrust Inspections
I called George based on the great reviews on Angie's list since I was desperate for a lead test. I'm in the process of buying a home that was built in 1947 and it has original doors & windows. I'm a mother of a two year old & I'm concerned that there is a strong likelihood of lead with this house. After speaking with George for over over 20 minutes. He explained everything about how lead testing is done & the different types of methods in detecting it. He also talked about what to do if it's found and possible costs related with each method. He was extremely knowledgeable & patient with me. After explaining all of this information to me I then advised that I only needed him for the lead test and that I had already hired another inspector. He then advised that he would provide me with the lead test swabs that he already purchased for free. He even offered to leave them in his mailbox if I agreed to come get them. I was away visiting family in Massachusetts and asked my husband to go pick them up after work. My husband went by that evening and didn't find any swabs in his box. He then called me asking what he should do since it was 10:00 pm and I told him to just go home. I planned on calling George in the a.m. once I was up. To my surprise there was a voicemail waiting for me once I had woken up. It was George apologizing. He advised that he had asked his wife to leave them in the box and she had forgotten to do so. He then informed that he would leave them in the box for my husband to come back & get. I called my husband & told him to go get the swabs right away. He drove all the way out to Vienna & there were the swabs. George had no reason not once but twice to help me but he did! He saved me over $450 in lead testing. He also armed me with all the information I needed in order to conduct the test, understand the different methods of testing, and he advised me of the possible outcomes to expect from the seller when it comes to the removal of lead if it was found. I'm extremely floored by his generosity & definitely believe him to be an upstanding contractor who knows his stuff. I'm looking forward to working with George in the future should the opportunity present itself. To anyone wondering whether they should hire him/not. My recommendation would be yes. Thank you again George for your time & generosity.

Recent Review: I called Accutest because I needed lead inspection on my 1963 rental property, as determined by the new state regulation. I had a productive conversation with David in which he asked me about the building materials and the condition of the home. In turn, he answered all my questions regarding lead testing, including the types of tests, preparation before a test, the process to providing the report to the State. In the end he believes that my house is lead free and recommended that I contact LeadTec to perform a test that he could not perform. His recommendation turned out to be appropriate and correct. I really appreciated David's honesty and work ethics, as he could have performed his tests so he could make the money. I'm sorry that I did not get to work any more with him but I certainly recommend him!
