Good, Cheap, Straightforward

Loving the Thunderbolt 3/USB C situation. All ports work as advertised (haven't tested any monitors above 1080p with the HDMI port, though). My only complaint is that, when first plugged in, the Ethernet and USB ports often don't initialize. See below.

My typical experience is as follows: plug VGA, separate USB 2 hub, and Ethernet cable into Cable Matters Adapter, then plug Cable Matters Adapter into laptop USB C/Thunderbolt 3 port. Laptop is an HP Spectre x360 (late 2016). Once plugged in, USB and/or Ethernet aren't recognized. Unplug Cable Matters Adapter, plug it back in (changing nothing else). Everything works. Not sure why, but it's my experience so far with this thing. Could be a driver issue, but I haven't found any drivers to update (and I've checked my laptop's TB3 drivers; they're fine).

Serves multiple purposes through one device

Am a technology fan and am highly impressed with this product. This adapter was connected to Lenovo Yoga 910 - 14 inch laptop.

1. When connected to the port where we connect the charger: The LAN and hard drive (not SSD, one with spinning drive) worked simultaneously while laptop was on battery. I have 200 mbps internet connection and was getting 235mbps down (Time warner cable).
2. When connected to the port with display output: Same as above + image on LCD TV was seen perfectly fine via HDMI cable. LAN, Hard disk and image function worked simultaneously.

Must have as it serves multiple purposes through one device. I have not tested this on my nexus 6P phone but will do so soon.

I have had mutliple bad experiences with adapters and docking stations for my 4K-enabled Dell XPS 13, but this thing solved it and worked out of the box with no special setup or drivers. Extremely happy with this purchase so far. Have not yet used the ports aside from the HDMI but the HDMI works as advertised. I love a product that is a good value compared to other solutions and just does what it's suppposed to do.

Mostly does what it says it will.

I sometimes have connectivity issues with my Lenovo Yoga 910 when using the hdmi port. Occasionally sound will only play through my laptop, and the laptop doesn't seem to recognize the tv speakers as a source to play sound through. Usually I can just unplug and plug back in and the issue is solved. Sometimes if I pause a movie I'm watching on my tv through my laptop and this adapter, I lose sound and again must unplug and replug.

This isn't a deal breaker for me as it still functions quite well. I needed an adapter with HDMI, VGA, and a USB 3.0, and this seems to be the only optio. That being said it is still a great option and works well.

Really my biggest complaint is the ugly blue checkered pattern on it. I just don't understand why they wouldn't make it all black and cleaner looking. Why Cable Matters? Why?

Great function 1980's looks

I just used this with my 2016 MBP at a client meeting where they had a wireless HDMI adapter which uses USB power. The CM Adapter handled it flawlessly through multiple unpluging and pluging of the device and gave a very clear picture through the projector. I haven't tested the Gig Ethernet for actual throughput, but others have in reviews here. I took off a star for the looks - really guys? Basic black would be better than the checker pattern and they should consider an aluminum option as well. Other than that if you have an MBP and use it for business, this little guy is indispensable.

So far so good - 3 days. Only comment is the cable connecting to my computer is about 3 inches shorter than I would like. The multiport will lay flat on my desk, but it keeps wanting to lift up. I think a little longer connector cable would help.

Up date: This did not work after all. Windows 10 told me the VGA connection was bad. I was unable to get an image on my Acer G226HQL monitor. Replaced this multiport with a single VEA to USB type C adaptor and the monitor works fine now. Returned the multiport to Amazon.
