    And, biggest piece of architectural vandalism - the long first floor (2nd if you’re American) windows (the key to Georgian terraces) has been replaced with a shorter version.

    It doesn’t take much. Compare the far right to the other two facades. Same building stripped of white lintel, shutters, balcony, railing and glazing bars.

    Ironically tech platforms plus EU regulation will completely disrupt this and energise the culture. The talent is there. We’re already seeing this with Lupin etc.

    I suspect EU quotas here are a good thing. For so long French cinema has been an old boys network churning out boring, worthy stuff for bourgeois elites to feel good about that nobody actually wants and which is ultimately poor.

    It’s as near perfect an urban square as it’s possible to be. Was lucky enough to visit when and were staying there.

    And paradoxically if this swings both ways it still causes inflation.

    Remember when soaring lumber prices were a sign of out-of-control inflation? Now half of U.S. lumber dealers and manufacturers have excess inventories, while none describe the levels as very tight. via

    Completely unrealistic is what I get told. I'm hearing of managers driving vans to get stuff delivered. Major issue, I am told, is that its not that easy to recruit young UK workers to a job with those hours/conditions. Lots of UK HGV license are held, but not used. QED.

    It’s in nobody’s interest except people with ideas to admit ideas matter. And there are more people without ideas.

    Remember when everyone used to say "ideas don't matter" for startups. I'm glad we don't say that anymore because that made absolutely no sense. Ideas really matter.

    Didn’t Max Planck have a pipe that delivered chicken tikka massala directly to his TV room?

    Rebeca has reminded me possibly my favourite trivia about a scientist: Carlsberg gave Niels Bohr a house at the brewery with free beer for life literally piped directly into the house. Is there any higher honour a scientist could receive?
