Vaccines as a Profession: ICEF Graduate Talks about His Work at Sanofi Pasteur
Nikolay Kuzin, a 2011 graduate of ICEF, is brand manager at Sanofi Pasteur (France), a company that has been manufacturing vaccines for many years and where he oversees the launch of new products in Eastern European markets. We spoke with Nikolay about how he combines the background in finance with the administrative responsibilities in his position, about the unique nature of French master’s programmes, about how long it really takes to develop a vaccine, and about why Europeans trust medical developments in their countries.
Student of the HSE Art and Design School Directs Animated Video for Indie Folk Band Juna
July 12 saw the YouTube release of the music video for the track ‘Amanat’ by the Tatar indie folk band Juna. The video was directed by Evgenia Sheinina, now a fourth-year student of the bachelor's programme in Animation and Illustration at HSE Art and Design School. She worked on the animated video across two modules with her supervisor Igor Kovalev. Evgenia spoke to HSE News Service about this unusual project.
High School Students from 46 Countries to Participate in the 2021 International Economics Olympiad
More than 200 high school seniors representing 46 national teams will compete for the title of the world's best young economists in July at the 4th International Economics Olympiad (IEO). The competition will be held online from July 26 to August 1. All the participants have won competitions in economics and financial literacy in their home countries. HSE University is the general partner of the Olympiad.

In autumn 2021, the HSE Banking Institute will launch a new online master’s programme, Master of Finance, on Coursera. The educational content is based on HSE’s Financial Analyst master’s programme. New Safety Measures to Be Introduced at HSE University
Starting September 1, 2021, HSE University-Moscow is introducing new safety policies on campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They apply to students over 18 years old who have not had COVID during the last six months, have not been vaccinated (with a Russian or a foreign vaccine), nor have a medical exemption from vaccination. Free vaccination will be available on campus to all arriving students.
Joint Department with the Bank of Russia Opens at HSE University
The Bank of Russia and HSE University have agreed to establish a joint department. The decision was approved by HSE Academic Council. Ksenia Yudaeva, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, was appointed Head of the Department.
The New Master’s Standard: Opinion of the Academic Community
The new unified standard provides a general framework for developing Master’s programmes and delegates the determination of specific professional skills, types of career activities and key learning outcomes to programmes themselves, as well as recommending particular courses to students. Which tracks did programmes select? What are the opportunities and risks under the new standard? HSE University's New Master’s Standard
At the end of 2020, the Academic Council of HSE University approved a new educational standard for Master’s programmes, which expands learners’ options in designing their own educational trajectories. It also places a bigger emphasis on project work. The standard will take effect in the 2021/2022 academic year for 33 participating programmes at the pilot stage.The HSE Look met with Sergey Roshchin, Vice Rector for the University’s degree programmes, and discussed the new measures.
