And yet, that hasn’t stopped plenty of developers of rising to the challenge to make some great stealth action games to enjoy on iOS. Here are our five favorites below, along with links to reviews so you can learn more about them.

Infinity Island is a brand new idle game from Luca Redwood that is available now for iOS and Android. You might be familiar with Redwood from their previous games, 10000000, You Must Build A Boat and Photographs.

Redwood's previous game was fairly dark, so they decided to create something a touch more fun and accessible with Infinity Island. Aside from a shift in tone, Infinity Island is a rare foray into the world of free-to-play for the developer.

Apple Arcade: Ranked - Top 25 [Updated 7.26]

Posted by Campbell Bird on July 26th, 2021

In case you missed it, I am on a quest to rank every Apple Arcade game there is.

Over a year into the Apple Arcade experiment, I’m adjusting my approach to these rankings to make it a bit less cumbersome to update and read. For the most part, this means the number of updates on previously released games will decrease, and the text below each entry will be kept to a brief-yet-accurate justification for its positioning.

This has less to do with the pace of Apple Arcade releases and more to do with the fact that the general quality of games on the service simply isn’t what it should be. In the time that one release comes to the service, multiple high quality games hit the App Store that you don’t have to pay monthly upkeep for. Unless something drastic changes with the service, my opinion on it probably won’t change much. With the most recent update bringing older established titles to the service, Arcade is certainly the strongest it has ever been, but additional shakeups like this will need to keep happening to finally sell me on the service.

Anyway, on with the ranking updates:

There's never been a better time to hop in to Genshin Impact

Posted by Campbell Bird on July 22nd, 2021

Our rating: starstarstarstarhalfstar :: GIGA GACHA :: Read Review »

We were obviously big fans of Genshin Impact when it launched last year, so much so that it grabbed our Game of the Year award. Since that time, though, the game (and our enthusiasm fo it) had gone somewhat quiet.

You see, Genshin Impact is a service game, but since last winter there had been precious little added to the experience. Post-Dragonspine, a couple of story quests showed up and a trickle of new characters came and went, but there was nothing really new and exciting for players to latch onto--regardless of whether they played daily or dropped off months ago. This summer showed a glimpse of excitement with a temporary archipelago being added to the game, but the whole experience felt like stopgap effort designed to prevent more of the player base moving on to something else.

Since the initial announcement all the way back in 2019, we've not heard an awful lot about Homeworld Mobile. But now, there appears to be some movement as the game's first regional beta test is now live.

It's currently limited to Canada and Android devices, but it's a good sign that development is progressing well. The developers added that additional regions and countries will get access to the game over the next year, so it might not be too long before you can head out to conquer space.

Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen's impending update will introduce a Guild system

Posted by Stephen Gregson on July 21st, 2021

Appxplore has announced that their popular RPG Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen will soon receive a major update that introduces a Guild system alongside another feature called Sigils. The developers hope this will add more excitement to the game by building on top of the existing content.

Once the update drops, players can join or form a Guild before teaming up with their squad to battle against the forces of evil. Outside of fighting, you'll chat with your Guild using a variety of emotes. Beyond that, you can donate Masks to unlock powerful Guild Buffs and obtain Sigil Resins.

The digital adaptation of Dominion is a promising port of a modern classic

Posted by Campbell Bird on July 19th, 2021

iOS has always been a great place to play card and board games digitally, provided the game selection available was to your taste. I've made bunch of great discoveries over the years by trying out titles like Root and Lords of Waterdeep, but what I always secretly wanted all this time was a way to play Dominion on the go.

Thankfully, it seems like I'll be getting exactly what I've been waiting for soon, as Temple Gates Games is currently finishing up a digital version of Dominion for mobile and PC. In a certain way, I already have it, as this version of the game is already in open beta and you can play it right now. If you have any interest at all in Dominion or deck-building games, you should sign up right away.
