TO GET SOMEONE TO HELP US, IT TOOK A LONG TIME WE WAITED AND WAITED, BUT ONCE THEY HELPED US IT WAS PRETTY SMOOTH AND PICKED THE APPLIANCE WE NEEDED. THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED US CHANGING OUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL UNIT, BUT THAT WAS NOT NEEDED, BECAUSE OURS IS IN GREAT SHAPE EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID IT WOULD BREAK AFTER THE KIND OF DISHWASHER WE BOUGHT.

Victor Handyman Service

Victor was punctual for the first time to give us an estimate of the job. He was also punctual the day he worked on the project. In the beginning, we were a little worried for he spend at least 2 hrs assessing the job and running out to purchase the necessary hardware. But everything fell into place without any hiccups. He was very patient as my husband kept watching and learning at the same time. Victor is courteous, professional and clean. Will use him again.

Airport Home Appliance - Hayward
1.0
One of the refrigerators I purchased was a Bosch. When they delivered the Bosch refrigerator, it failed to get cold after 24 hours. When I called the next day to advise Airport Appliance that the refrigerator was not working they told me to turn it off, then plug it in again and wait another 24 hours. After 48 hours the refrigerator was still not working. When I called a second time the store said they could not exchange it unless I had the original packaging. I explained that their delivery people unwrapped it, installed it and took away the original packing. Reluctantly, Airport Appliance agreed to pick-up the refrigerator and test it to see if it was actually not working. They came out and picked up the Bosch and did not bring a replacement. Several days later I called the warehouse to confirm that there was problem with the refrigerator. The Manager admitted there was a problem but told me I had to deal directly with the manufacturer and that it was not Airport Appliances' responsibility. After many phone calls to Bosch and to the owners of Airport Appliance (that were not returned), Airport Appliance agreed to provide me with a new Bosch refrigerator but indicated that they would have to order as they had none in stock. We were without a refrigerator for more than 6 weeks, without any offer by Bosch to provide a temporary replacement. This was during the height of summer. When the "new" Bosch arrived the same problem occurred. The refrigerator did not get cold. My husband theorized, that Airport Appliance simply gave us the first refrigerator again. After many discussions with the salesperson that sold us the refrigerator, we were able to obtain a refund on the Bosch refrigerator which I used to purchase a GE profile through a reputable and honest dealership. Airport Appliance refused to refund the delivery fee which amounted to $60.00, which I am presently seeking. Lesson learned: 1. Do not buy any appliance from Airport Appliance 2. Ask any appliance dealer if they stand by the products they sell and determine if they take responsibility for the product if it does not work. 3. When the owners of any store refuses to return your calls and accept responsibility for a product they sell, there is a complete lack of integrity. Do not buy anything from such an organization.

BAYSHORE SUPPLY
1.0
DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!!! IT IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF, ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED TO RETURN SOMETHING. I purchased a 3/4 HP disposal and later found out I needed a 1 HP disposal. Since the store was closed by the time the plumbers got to the disposal installation, I had to purchase another disposal at Home Depot which was open until 9:00 pm. (BTW - Home Depot prices are CHEAPER than this store, even with their "supposed discount".) I returned the 3/4 HP disposal to Bayshore Supply & Lights and they charged me 3% for returning something purchased using a credit card, and - this is the really unbelievably obnoxious part - they wanted to charge me a 25% "restocking charge", even though the disposal was not special order and they already had it on their shelf. It was completely new and unopened. PLUS, the way they calculated the restocking charge, they included the SALES TAX as part of the restocking fee!!! I complained to the manager and they reduced the restocking fee to 10%, but I still think that was completely unreasonable for a stock item. If you are not a contractor, they treat you VERY RUDELY, so I advise to STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!!! In addition, this store is a complete mess, dirty and dusty, and the lighting department is dark and dreary.

University Electric Co
5.0
After shopping a couple of dealers and a "partners" deal through my employer, chose University Electric because they were significantly lower in price. Was told they only delivered to Alemeda county on Wednesdays so elected a delivery date over a month away to coincide with early stages of kitchen remodel. Scheduled delivery day came with no delivery - called my sales representative at University and they scheduled a special delivery for that Friday.

EMPIRE INDUSTRIES CO

He is a general contractor and lives in the same complex as me. He came over to check if it was something that was easy to fix. I then gave him the key, as I was unable to get out work. He bought and installed the disposal and came over and collected the check when I was at home. He is trustworthy and I have referred him to two other people.

It took one extra week to get an item they missed when they delivered the first time. I feel their prices were cheaper than another company and so was their delivery charge. It was less expensive to have them remove and dispose of the old appliances than to have someone else do it. I will use them again, and I do recommend them to others.

Sears Appliance Repair

Sears will refer you to this guy, he helped us on his own time, he is a worker up there that sells appliances, and he will put together this bundle package for you but he is a Reno fellow and he is just excellent. He got us all the right stuff and of course, Sears subcontracted out some of the work but they had this package where one could get things customized. We were very happy with them. They gave us a rebate; we got $750 cash back and a rebate card, so it was very nice. They did an excellent job for us. He helped us find the best of the best Bosch five or seven series appliances, because we wanted something beyond the average. They came in and assessed what we needed. They could have put in whole new cabinets and everything else but we had somewhat they identified as very good. They were very honest and I appreciated them not having us replace that. They had good alternatives that looked great but they told us ours was solid oak and so they did a good job identifying it. They put in a whole-full kitchen. We have a U-shape kitchen, long kitchen with double sink, one smaller stainless steel with the larger one. We bought a top of the line garbage disposal and a very nice delta plumbing. We just picked those out ourselves and asked them to install it. They prepped up the backsplash for tile work to be done. They subcontracted it of the work. The fellow that came was very professional. We spent a lot of money but it wasn't bad value, it was an excellent thing.

TELECENTER
5.0
When I went to the store, I spent some time on my own looking at the showroom models. Then Warren at Telecenter spent time with me describing the features of the various appliances that I expressed an interest in. In some instances, he gave his opinion on the merits of a model over another. He explained manufacturer's rebates; delivery; connections; disposal fees, etc. Warren gave a quantity discount because of the multiple purchases that I made. Overall, I found Warren to be knowledgeable, attentive, and responsive. After I had purchased the fridge, I changed my mind about the model I wanted. Warren worked with me to ensure that I got the fridge that I wanted. It cost more than my original choice, but it works better with my kitchen layout. My goods were delivered in two trips (per my request) and Sergio and his partner were punctual, friendly, clean and fast.

They tried to sell me a more expensive brand when I did not specify on 2 items. When I inquired they did make the change but felt they tried to take advantage of me. When they notified us our order was ready for delivery I had to schedule the delivery out 4 weeks but I had specified this at time of ordering. The night before delivery we were notified of delivery time and at this point was told one of the major items was not there. It took 2 more days to determine that not only couldn't they find the item but their supplier didn't have any in stock. Our remodel needed the item in a week. They could not get the item for 3 weeks. I had to call all over the bay area to find a place that stocked the item and it cost me considerably more. Shades of Expo, if you ever dealt with them. In the future I will continue to deal with local, small businesses that have satisfied our needs in the past. It takes more leg work but prices were generally the same. I got caught up in one-stop-shopping. I will confess that they did refund my money which their sales receipts states clearly that they do not have to do. Their sales receipts are also difficult to read but when I complained to the headquarters they said they are working on upgrading their billing system.

Sears Home Services

I had been looking for a new dishwasher for a week. I finally bought a new dishwasher at the hardware chain that Sears owns. It was a Consumer Reports "best buy," and it had a "clearance sale" price that was much cheaper than the same model at another store. And on top of that, it qualified for a PG&E rebate. I brought it home myself, and removed the old one by myself, which my local garbage company took away for only $25. So all that remained was the installation. I probably could have done that myself too, but I was concerned about possible insurance and warranty issues, so I decided to get it "professionally installed." But I couldn't find anyone on "the list" or in the Yellow Pages to do it. So I finally gave in and made an appointment through Sears. They in turn, subbed it out to another company (which was not in the Yellow Pages). As I had already removed the old dishwasher, he just needed to attach the two hoses and a new power cord (they don't come with power cords any more!). And then all he had to do was connect everything under the sink. He was in and out in 30 minutes.

Sears Appliance Repair

It would have been a dream come true but during the job while either taking out an appliance or bringing in a new one they damaged our one and half year old laminate floor and though we have tried and tried to get this repaired no one comes to repair it. I did not get the appliances I choose, they choose Sears brand names instead, The induction range I got is the one I wanted, it was a Sears brand, and it got the best write ups of all induction ranges. The refrigerator was not the one I wanted, I wanted a bottom freezer, two doors on top and a drawer in the middle for the things you take out and put in the most; I got a bottom freezer and two top doors but no drawer in the middle. I found it odd that I did not get the appliances I wanted because I spent, quite literally, days finding the appliances with the best ratings and finding the equal on the Sears list and submitted my order with the Model number of the appliance and the Sears item number. Yet I got the wrong refrigerator and the wrong dishwasher. I used a dishwasher at my son's that really did an excellent job of cleaning; without washing them first and hardly any scrapping, it was a Whirlpool. The dishwasher I had before they began work was a Sears dishwasher that was only 3 years old and I had to wash my dishes before I put them in or they would come out with food baked on them. I wanted a Whirlpool Quiet series, gave them the model number and the Sears item number but kept getting pushed into the Sears brand. Note worthy: Just after we signed the papers to do this job we had a major illness in the family and I was awaiting surgery myself so I was not at my best. I can't totally blame Sears, they promised the dishwasher would perform just as good, that it would be quieter and it had a stainless steel tub; I just could not argue any more. We were experiencing a Father in and out of the hospital getting worse with each fall. We were likely going to have to move him out of his apartment. Moving everything out of our kitchen was a chore all by itself, but going back and forth to the hospital, looking up item numbers daily I just could not do anymore. I took the man's word for it that the dishwasher would be better than my choice. Once in and able to give it a try the dishwasher did not work as promised. After the cycle finished I opened the door to find the packet of soap recommended by the manufacturer was sitting on the bottom of the dishwasher not dissolved and the dishes not clean. I called and asked again and again to get the dishwasher I asked for, but did not. They sent out a repair man and he stated that the soap release timing was off and he fixed it. Since his visit there is no undissolved soap but not sure about how clean the dishes are getting. I am used to washing or soaking my dishes first, a habit hard to break, plus once the dishwasher is full we really need the dishes by then and I'm afraid to truly test it. It has been 5 months and the damage to my floor has not been repaired, no one answers our calls or emails any more. We are afraid to with hold the last payment, or have it repaired and send them the bill. Very unhappy about the treatment we get the office. It took forever to get permits checked; they did put panels left bare for the permit to be cleared and it just open. As far am I am concerned they did finish the job at all, details count too. Very disappointed in all "after" service.

DM Ryan Construction Inc
5.0
All went very well. After agreeing on the best plan which considered costs, materials quality and a practical design layout the work began. During construction we were living in another house and received regular updates on the progress. Whenever decisions were needed we were consulted and given useful alternatives DM Ryan Construction applied, on our behalf, for the proper city permits with all the worked passing inspections. The work was completed in a timely manner and we are very happy with the results.
