Our kitchen floor always had a hump going across, thought house was settling. Needed to replace flooring, but hump would have prevented using most materials except maybe more vinyl. Kirk determined it was a bowed joist builder had left in. Kirk gave a very cheap quote to fix it. His guys came in and leveled it out in a few hours. Have now installed wood floor myself, but couldnt have done it without leveling floor.

We are planning to build a second level addition and open up the main level . Ben spent many hours explaining the pros and cons of different layouts and the best use of our budget. He has completely taken charge of the architectural plans and permits and we cant wait to break ground in spring. The entire process has been very efficient and professional with total regard of our busy schedule. We recommend him with no hesitation.

Our General contractor, Manuel, was reliable and committed throughout the entire project. We were also impressed with the sub-contractors under him as they were also professional and produced quality work. Navas Construction addressed all or our concerns and issues as they arose and has even continued to provide support post completion. The project ran smoothly and was completed on time, all thanks to the management and oversight of Manuel. We would happily hire him again and are very pleased with his service and the lovely addition he has built us.

Thomas Custom Builders is simply outstanding. They have a great group of quality craftsmen and allocated the necessary resources to finish the job professionally and on time. I met with the owner during the bidding process, and he was the only potential contractor who bid on the job and who had the keen eye to notice several things that needed to be done that others did not even consider. This type of attention to detail carried through to allow the work to be completed more professionally and quickly. Their workers arrived before the job started to place scaffolding. Once the job started, they worked efficiently and did the job with a high level of quality. We remain highly impressed. The communication was outstanding at every phase, so we knew exactly what to expect and how to coordinate with them. The work performed was even better, just top notch all around. I have some degree of experience with construction and home renovation, and I cannot think of a better contractor to hire for either building or renovation. These situations have the potential to be nightmares if the work isn't completed in a timely and professional manner or with good quality, but there were no such concerns with Thomas. They are dedicated professionals who do everything the right way. It is refreshing to see this and I am glad that I hired them for the job. Can't recommend them highly enough.

The five-month journey that we spent with Chris, Nicoleta, Nate, Elmer and all the team at GSB Builders has beaten any of our expectations and delivered a beautiful second-floor addition, which includes a master suite and office space. After a lot of hesitation, Chris, Nicoleta and Nate convinced us to take the step forward, captured our main ideas and proposed a design that has greatly improved, not only the space and appeal of our own house, but also the neighborhood. We really appreciated their listening to our ideas, down-to-earth and professional demeanor, and knowledge about all aspects of the construction which helped us overcome our initial fears ahead of an unknown journey. The construction was well executed by a professional team led by Elmer which was always friendly, tidy and respectful of the family’s privacy while workers had to enter the house. Their work ethic and professionalism is truly impressive. We valued the extreme responsiveness of Chris and Nicoleta during critical moments, such as during a thunderstorm which damaged part of the roof under construction. The GSB Builders team reacted swiftly to repair the parts damaged by the unexpected weather conditions, which avoided further damage to the house and major disruption in the family’s life. We truly appreciated Nicoleta’s design expertise and knowledgeable guidance on choosing bathroom fixtures, and her overall warm and approachable personality, which made this project also really fun. In fact, over the course of working together, we have come to appreciate each other deeply and have come to view Nicoleta and Chris as friends of the family. No major construction project is without bumps and stress along the road, and ours was no exception. What mattered is that we were always able to rely to the GSB team to do their best to rectify any problem and solidify our trust. We will continue working with the company on other projects in the future and will recommend their service to friends and family without any hesitation.

Have not hired this provider but he gave good explanations for jobs I'm seeking to do and his prices seemed fair.

Total incompetence, demonstrated by utterly and completely substandard work and punctuated by their filing bankruptcy in 2016 and did NOT FINISH the job. We are now out of pocket with another contractor to "clean up" their mistakes (that by the way are TOO MANY to put into a review) and finish the job. The latest event is a pipe that they "forgot" to GLUE at a T location and put up finished sheet rock over it. We had a major flood from the "disconnected" pipe and now have to cut 7 feet of sheet rock, replace an entire room of new carpet and padding, etc etc. Electric outlets affected and the list goes on.... DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. THEY ARE A JOKE AND WILL PROMISE YOU THINGS THAT THEY CANNOT DELIVER.

Ryan Doan is quite an experienced builder. He patiently and thoughtfully addressed the many questions my partner and I had about renovating a house with "old bones." He was strategic in helping us address all unforeseen issue that arose (which is nearly inevitable when remodeling an old home) once the renovation process began on our newly purchased home. He thoroughly explained all the options my partner and I should consider during a remodel of the massive scale we conducted. He immediately understood our vision and was able to illustrate it via architectural drawings and later through the great work he and his team have done. His experience with local government and the permit approval process put us at ease. He help my partner and me select very capable vendors to supply us everything from glass tile for our backsplash to the intricate details of our cabinets and countertops. If you are thinking of doing any sort of renovation to your home, big or small, Ryan Doan is your guy.

It went great! Starting with the design phase, John and his team spent hours going over the possibilities with us. He was open to our ideas and thoughts and we carefully choose a final plan that has worked out perfectly. I am a very detail oriented person so i was pleased that time could be spent making sure the project got off in the right direction, with the right ideas in mind. The work phase was a wonder. Starting with the excavator who dug our basement, to the roofer banging away it was a real joy to stop by each day and see what was done. The men were always friendly and helpful. I did not have a problem with trash or even mud on the street! [ i was worried about that] Weekly meetings with the lead carpenter and production manager helped to keep me aware of what had happened and what was about to happen. I found the team to be easy to reach by phone and e mail. The job took about a week longer than we planned, but with the changes made, by us, on the fly it did not concern me. We have been in the new addition about a month now. Everything works, the few problems we have had have been addressed straight away. The space is all we wanted it to be, we definitely want to recommend Tabor Design Build

It went well. I am still amazed at the quality of work and craftsmanship. John's crew is outstanding, courteous, creative, and highly motivated...they take a great deal of pride in their work. The available space for the structure was extremely tight (access was limited) requiring lots of coordination with the concrete pump truck and crane for lifting in the steel ridge beam. Perhaps the biggest asset for Cooper and Company is Mr Cooper's knowledge of Fairfax County's permitting process. He is well respected and often more knowledgeable than the inspectors; he hold valid licenses for several trades qualifying him to inspect/approve work that the county accepts. I highly recommend Cooper and Company for anyone seeking quality construction and a conscientious effort to complete a difficult project.

Arn did an excellent job remodeling our 1970's era split-level home. The entire project consisted of; an addition of 500 square feet to the bedroom level and repurposing the old master bedroom space to provide additional closet space, an additional four-piece bath and a large laundry room, the removal of the old 300 sq. ft deck made of pressure treated lumber to make way for the addition and creating a new 500+ sq. ft. deck made of composite deck boards with cedar posts and wire rails, the gutting of the main level of the home and creating an open space of 600'ish sq. ft. with a new kitchen, dining and living area, and replaced the vinyl siding with Hardy Plank and composite trim in a craftsman style. We inhabited the home during construction and Arn scheduled the work so we would endure the least inconvenience. All possible exterior work for the addition was completed before displacing us from the former master bedroom. And the same occurred with the living/dining/kitchen space as well. While working on the main level, he put up a mini-foyer so we could use the front door to access the other levels of the home and this also reduced the dust and noise. The work crews used by Arn are very good and many members are really craftsman. The appropriate and best materials were used for the work and the construction techniques were top notch. Arn and his crew overachieved in making sure the structure was more sturdy than required and the parts of the home touched by Arn are the best-built parts of our home. I can easily recommend Chattan and Associates for any project. In fact, I recommended Arn for a window replacement opportunity involving a bit of construction work to a friend of mine. Chattan came in with a lower bid than the other parties and my friend is very happy with the results.

The work was done on time and on budget by a skilled team. I'm grateful to Lofft for their level of professionalism and care that went into the repairs at my property. I would definitely recommend Lofft and their team to anyone else looking for a competent general contractor in the DC area.

Level Construction was prompt with their bid and the pricing was very reasonable. They started and ended on schedule and kept me informed of progress with photos and good communication. I was very pleased with the quality of their work as well as their clean up of the site during and after construction. I would recommend them to any homeowner who has a home improvement or renovation project!

We are so pleased that we went with AJ Building services. We had a terrific experience with them! We interviewed several contractors, but liked the idea of going with a smaller, family owned company. Andy Jelonek and Daniel Sanders are both very hands on, and performed a great deal of the work themselves. When they did use subcontractors, they supervised the work very closely and had exacting standards, not allowing short cuts that other contractors might allow. They were very sensitive to our schedules and considerate of the fact that we were living in the house during the work (a fact that likely made their jobs harder, but they never pressured us to move out and incur extra expenses). Living through a renovation while you're working full time is a challenge, and Andy and Daniel kept us informed of important developments and made sure they were available to meet with us at times that were convenient to us. They also kept a tight schedule; this was a massive job and they finished it in a very reasonable amount of time. We never had to wonder about the progress and we never felt that there were any big breaks in the action. We got a lot of personal attention, had questions answered quickly, and saw progress on the house every day. Equally important to us, Andy and Daniel are honest, ethical, and straightforward. They lived up to both the spirit and the letter of our contract and responded quickly to the inevitable issues that crop up during a project of this size. It would be hard to overstate the importance of this when you are embarking on a project of this scope and expense. They didn't just want to do the minimum required; they wanted to make sure that we were happy with the project and with the progress throughout. Finally, we are thrilled with the finished product! Their work is extremely high quality. They did such a lovely job and they completely transformed our house. We will enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking to do large or small projects.

Right after we signed a contract with CarrMichael Construction the expected level of service disappeared. It became impossible to actually get a response from anyone and it had to be through email. Anything agreed upon over the phone was quickly forgotten and blamed on never even being discussed. If you work with them you better check on the work daily to make sure what you are being told is actually being done. They did not come close to providing the level of service you would expect with a "custom home builder".

We were in the middle of interviewing three contract firms when we contacted Sonny. Discussing the design of the floor plan in more detail with Sonny and his crew while we were visiting their show room in Fairfax helped us made the decision to hire them as they really understand the issue and have a solid solution. The upfront fixed contract price is another factor to help us make the decision as we do not have to worry about any hidden cost as the project moved on. The team from Michael Nash is very responsive and professional. They assisted us with creative design ideas and suggestions. When it came to doing the actual work, they always did their best to meet customer’s needs and address our questions and concerns very promptly. Remodeling of an old house requires a lot of replanning of the existing pipes, wires, removing the walls and it is more complicated than building a new house. All the working crews were very considerate and paid attention to the smallest details and were meticulous in their work. The granite countertops, the exquisite cabinet remodeling and the beautiful backsplash were exceptional. The quality of the deliverables is very good. We are very happy with our new kitchen, powder room and the entire main level and will definitely contact Michael Nash for all of our future remodeling needs.

Matt is a very kind person whose team was very nice to work with. They were respectful, clean, trustworthy, and made sure they listen to our wishes and concerns. They worked very hard so we could move in before Christmas. The projects after that were slower but we had added several projects in the process and overall they got everything accomplished in about 4 months. Matt always reacted on time to e-mails and calls. Sometimes is was hard to reach his team to find out when they would be coming and what they would work on but one call to Matt and he made sure we got a reply. Green products and limited chemicals were very important to us and his team not only respected that but also collaborated with us which products to use. We had a major water problem in the basement and they were able to fix it with additional drains, a sump pump and a successful concepts to redirect the water from the house. We have had a lot of rain so far and the basement has been dry, yeah! The built-in closets were done by a different team and took more time than we expected. They didn't turn out the way we wanted but Matt worked with us on that, reduced the price and had the team do some changes. We heard many horror stories about other contractors from friends so we were worried starting this big project. Overall we had a very good experience with Willis Builder. The majority of projects were done very nicely and to our satisfaction and Matt was willing to work with us on the couple things we were not so satisfied with. We also know, should there be anything in the future, Matt will not hesitate to come and fix it. We would work with him and his team anytime again.

Karbyte did a fantastic job. They removed the old bricks and mortar, leveled an area that had sunk a bit, ensured each step was the same size (previously they varied by 3 inches) and rebuilt the stoop in 2-3 days. Further, they suggested we extend the top step as the previous design had you stepping down right out of the door. It was a great improvement! We are very happy with the service, the professionalism and the quality we received.
