Moving often comes with headaches and frustration, especially when you're taking all your major appliances with you. Preparing your appliances should be the first thing you do. Before packing them into the moving truck, follow these tips to disconnect, clean and dry your appliances.
Dishwasher
Turn off the electric and water supplies.
Disconnect and drain the hoses.
Wrap the dry hoses with towels and packing paper, and place them inside the dishwasher.
Clean the interior if necessary.
Leave the dishwasher door open for a few hours or even days before you move to ensure it’s thoroughly dry.
Washing machine
Disconnect and drain the hoses.
Wrap the metal connector ends of hoses in a towel, and place them in the washer.
Clean the exterior of the washer using a soft cloth.
Clean the interior with a soft, dry cloth.
Make sure that you have drained all the water from the tub.
To secure and prevent the tub from any damage during the transportation, follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Upon arrival to the new house, have a qualified technician check all the parts and gas supply, and install the stove.
Refrigerator and freezer
Unplug the refrigerator at least 24 hours before your actual move.
Dispose of all perishables.
Disconnect the water line, and empty the water reservoir.
Clean and dry all surfaces and removable containers, including shelves and drawers.
Pack all loose parts, including bins and shelves, in a secure container.
Vacuum the condenser or compressor to remove dust.
Empty and clean the evaporator pan, and allow time for it to dry.
Have a professional reconnect the ice maker and water dispenser to the water line.

Microwave oven
Remove the glass tray and wrap it. Pack it into a secured box.
The microwave oven should be packed in a cushioned carton.
If it's too large for you to pack, ask your mover to pack the microwave on the actual moving day.
