Business Description: I have been in business since 1978. I am also a retired soldier with 24 years of service. I do tree work and have never been a butcher. Served a year in Japan with the Marines and absorbed all the Japanese gardens not knowing I would follow japanese techniques in gardening and tree trimming when I started my gardening and tree service in 78. I worked for the phone company for three years after the marines, then L.A. County parks and recreation doing trees at descanso gardens, the arboraetum, music center and all other county trees. I then worked for edison as a groundsman but ended up with the tree crew clearing high voltage lines. Became a single parent with three small children and started my business then. Because of the children I took any and all work to survive. Basically my fees are based on $25.00 an hour and on the danger and heavy work to include material. By law I cannot work over the daily limit since I don't have a state contractors license. I do all the dangerous and heavy work with the assistance of one helper, many times a family member. when doing dangerous trees the cost could be 50 to 100 dollars a hour. I do not take chances by taking trees down in large sections. Only in sizes in which I can physically lift. I have owned many homes and after hiring people that did't know what they were doing I decided to do all the work myself. I continued my education anreceived an AS in fire science with a secondary in horticulture. Later I went back to school to learn auto mechanics while restoring a 56 buick. From there adult ed and restoring and reuphostering antique furniture. I have always dabbled in sewing and framing as well as photography and now computers. I have hand painted homes inside and out and considered trustworthy enough to housesit and take care of homes for people that have more than one home. I live in Crestline but most of my work is in Pasadena, West Covina, and the Pomona area. If customers accept my bid I will travel. I have worked in Palm springs, Victorville,Santa Barbara and as far as San Diego.
