Updates always ruin my experience

I seem to be in the habit of resisting technology. Then accepting technology. Finally figuring it out. Using and enjoying said technology, and then the update comes. And it’s like I’m an infant again.
I have been using stitcher since my kids were babies. So that would be 13 years. It was always a nice easy platform for me to use. Even if I didn’t venture into the more special features. I was able to navigate the app. Find what I wanted and enjoy listening to all my favorite voices. I felt confident with stitcher.
And then the update came. Nothing is the same anymore. I don’t know what any of the symbols mean. I barely know how to back out of what I was attempting to press to do whatever feature I wanted but it never seems to be what I’m looking for anymore. Stitcher used to continuously play (unless sleep mode was activated!) a series for me. No it only seems to play one episode and I’m constantly having to scroll down to where I was to continue on. Very annoying. It doesn’t feel like stitcher anymore. It feels foreign and frankly it looks like it’s for toddlers. The graphics got all bubbly and round like some two year olds front page. I’m not sure I will continue to use it.

Overcast is way better

The only reason I keep this app is to access premium content from earwolf. I otherwise find it extremely frustrating to use and not intuitive. The playlists are not very customizable in my experience. I can’t erase episodes from the list only mark them as played so the lists end up being very long and unwieldy. If I listen to one second of a podcast, it then shows up below any unplayed episodes so I have to scroll down the list to see it. You cannot manually reorder episodes to your preferred play order or set priorities so your favorite shows always show up first in the list. I also downloaded old episodes of a show since the archives are only on stitcher but then had to manually scroll back through years of podcast episodes to find the ones I downloaded since they only show up by order of release and don’t prioritize downloaded episodes. Either that or manually search for them or take the time to mark hundreds of episodes as played in order for the episodes to show up on the top of the list. I don’t want to have to go to a separate downloaded episodes list when I’ve taken the time to make a playlist for a specific podcast. The downloaded episodes of that podcast should show up first. These are just a few reasons why I strongly prefer Overcast as my go to podcast app. If stitcher made some of these changes I at least wouldn’t be actively angry anytime I tried to listen to threedom.

Newest update is really bad

Update: In addition to all the other issues, searching podcasts in the app no longer seems to work as well. Often lately I’ll search a podcast that I know exists – sometimes ones I even know I’m subscribed to – and it won't show up in the results. So I google the podcast and have to find the stitcher link that way.

This is such a terrible update. It’s so much more difficult to use, and it’s not just needing to get used to the new setup. It’s completely unintuitive. There’s only about 2 inches of scrolling space to look through my podcast subscriptions and most of each episode title is cut off, so you have to click on each one to see if it’s a topic you might want to listen to. I hope some other review has addressed the podcast “Groups” you were able to make in the previous version. I can’t even figure out how to easily word what’s wrong with it, except that it’s either not working or obsolete yet still there...kind of? No episodes are listed in each subgroup anymore, but you can scroll – sideways – through each show? I don’t know, I gave up messing with it. Everything is just much harder to navigate and I feel like I can’t see or find anything. I’ve found myself using this app so much less since the update and I’m probably going to end my premium subscription.
