Community Team Meetings

The Community Team meets on the first and third Thursdays of every month in the #community-team channel on Slack. See the current times from the make.wordpress.org/community sidebarSidebar A sidebar in WordPress is referred to a widget-ready area used by WordPress themes to display information that is not a part of the main content. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme. or welcome box. These meetings usually run for about an hour.

Hosting the Community Team Chat

Any deputyDeputy Community Deputies are a team of people all over the world who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and generally keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about deputies in our Community Deputy Handbook. can host the Community Team Chats! The format generally goes like this:

1. Mark the start of the meeting with a greeting.
2. Ask deputiesDeputy Community Deputies are a team of people all over the world who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and generally keep things moving at WordCamp Central. Find more about deputies in our Community Deputy Handbook. to check-in by telling us what they’re working on, how things are going, if they have anything blocking their progress, and how other deputies can help.
3. Refer to the agenda that is posted on Make/Community a few days before the chat, post the relevant links, and allow for discussion.
4. Highlight any open P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/. posts that are in need of feedback, and/or posts that deputies should be aware of.
5. If there is time, open discussion on other topics that may come up.
6. Close the meeting.

It is generally a good practice to try to keep the conversation moving in the interest of time. If heated debates start to happen and/or a discussion goes on too long, guide folks to post/comment on the P2 for further discussion.

We are kicking off Community Team Meeting now. This meeting is meant for all contributors on the team and everyone who is interested in taking part in some of the things our team does. Feel free to join us, even if you are not currently active in the team!

For anyone who is joining for the first time (whether active or observing), this is a meeting where community contributors discuss issues that have come up, WordCamps/meetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. they are working on, and generally keeping up to date on what is going on in this corner of the WordPress project.

Most contributors on this team are volunteers, but we do have a handful of people who are sponsored to do this work. Ask questions as you have them, but remember we are family-friendly around here.
