During the creation of the 2018 HIM Standards, a compliance guide was constructed to help programs understand the requirements of each of the new Standards. The compliance guide provides supporting information to address each Standard. The compliance guide provides the verbiage of each standard, followed by the compliance guide information.

2008 Graduate HIM Standards  

 

Currently the Graduate degree programs in Health Information Management are evaluated under the 2008 HIM Standards. Health information management (HIM) graduate programs focus on the skills and competencies in health data management, information policy, information systems, administrative and clinical work flow. Health information management graduate programs focus on operations management essential to ensuring an accurate and complete medical record and cost-effective information processing.
