I have used this plugin for many years on many websites and it has been an exceptionally smooth ride overall, with themes such as the divi theme or the BB theme. It is fairly simple yet quite powerful and customizable, and I believe this is the best free contact form plugin out there, and on par with most paid plugins. The lack of visual builder might put off the less technical users but in fairness, it is not hard to understand the short code system and allows for unbelievable versatility. The 5.4 update was the first time I really had to do extensive research / debugging, as it turns out it introduced changes that caused issues with the default configuration of most caching plugins out there. The lack of clear acknowledgment by the developer and the almost 2 months before a 5.4.1 release to fix some issues added to the confusion and frustration. I believe a lot of the negative reviews out there are more a result of a poorly owned plugin mishap than a reflection of the overall quality of the plugin. That being said, I would still give a 5-star review to the plugin, and I have always found the help on the forum and online resources helpful, and way above the average of other free plugins.
