    OU has an opportunity to practice cooperative, shared governance by engaging with students on these points. For the sake of our health and academic experience, I implore OU to engage with us and take action.

    The resolution calls for changes including a mask requirement and the provision of hazard pay. One of its authors said they want the university to remember students are paying attention and are unsatisfied with the environment on campus:

    The situation is pretty grim at a lot of universities, but especially in states with low vax rates, no mask or vax mandates for students, and political environments that are hostile to COVID precautions. Like Oklahoma, as my OU colleague notes here.

    Since the OU Board of Regents just met, it is once again time to remind you that 1) the Regents are in charge at OU, not president or faculty and 2) they are largely wealthy, hard right, anti public education, pro business activists.

    Where is your conscience, ? How can you continue to have NO meaningful covid policies when your community is in agony? YOU could play a meaningful role in helping Oklahoma, and you continue to choose otherwise.

    Oklahoma’s % positive jumps back up to 25%. This ties with Idaho as the highest %+ in the United States. Unfortunately, this predicts a continued large number of new cases and is a sign we are not doing enough testing.

    What evidence is there that OU admins WANT to protect our community through mandated vaccines and masks? We have a provost who says he would ask for a personal mask mandate exemption. We have a president+counsel trying to figure out how the new vax mandate DOESN'T apply to OU.
