$5k used 09' Camry + $25k spent on meme production is arguably way more impactful for climate change than $30k on a new Model 3

a pretty simply framework to conceptualize the value of a given instance of personal climate action: 'If I spent this time/effort/resources making climate memes instead would it lead to a bigger dent in the problem?'

First epi hits on the 'is personal action important' question and lays out some very clear and helpful advice to normal folks and climate pros alike tldr: personal action is useful as a value recognition exercise & signaling lever for higher impact systems change. Power > Carbon

There are so many climate podcasts already but the latest to the scene is a welcome addition. It's beginner friendly but much more substantive than the same old 'how do solar panels work' climate 101 genre. Engages listeners on a moral level before technical.

quick maths: - at least 50 million units of a given iphone model sold over its lifetime - at least 10 kgs of carbon between the brick and earbuds - ~500000 tons of CO2 mitigated, ~2mil kgs of waste diverted - this represents ~1% of the entire footprint of NYC in a given year

all things considered ... the iphone 12 not shipping with earbuds or a charger is a pretty massive environmental and climate win. deserves credit here

DJ Morg is right. I've been vegan (plant based) for a year+ now and it's way easier and less sacrificial than I ever thought it would be. She gave me good tips when I was starting out, so hit up her or me if you wanna make a tiny leap with big impact.
