On time; great communications in terms of what their daily plan was, what challenges were coming up, response to my questions/concerns; excellent quality of work, very efficient and also friendly and responsible. In our initial consultation, we agreed it might be possible to simply replace a 3 yard square of ceiling plaster that was coming down, but might be necessary to do the whole thing. That turned out to be the case but the team was clear in showing me why their efforts to do the small piece were not working. When we experienced flickering lights and partial blackouts in our home, Beacon Homes Services sent someone to our home in Rockville right away. Jacob quickly and expertly diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be our electric meter. He and his colleagues in the office contacted Pepco and explained it was an emergency, complete with photos, and we were able to get a Pepco emergency crew out to do a temporary repair within 2.5 hours. Jacob had to leave for another job, but he took the time to phone us to check on the status of Pepco's repair at the end of the day. He also made some wiring improvements to our electrical panel while we were waiting for Pepco, and the rates were quite reasonable. I would definitely hire Beacon Home Services again.

First and foremost - they did NOT fix the problem. They were supposed to be here between 10 and 1 pm. I missed the call from the dispatcher saying they were on the way. I called her back 2 minutes later and she promised me they were headed to my house. 2 hours later, I get a call saying because I missed her call they were not coming until 5:30 or 6:00 pm. Fine, we waited. The electrician showed up said he did not know what the problem was but he changed the GFI. He charged us $240 ($200 for the trip and $40 for the outlet) and left. Within 10 minutes of him leaving the outlet tripped again. I called and still have no response from the company the next day. Waste of time and money. And the lack of response is exactly what homeowners fear when they hire a contractor.

Nugent & Sons fixed pendant kitchen lights that had detached from broken ceiling boxes. Nugent gave a $211 estimate to repair a single light. Total time for the repairs to three lights was close to three hours; the first light repair took about half that time. The repairs appear to have been well done. But we believe the bill was excessive, and unjustified. We paid the $1071 on site. The invoice was delivered later, and consisted of two unintelligible charges: “Customer Provided Lighting Fixture*Each $633", and “Miscellaneous Minor Repair $438". Asked for an explanation of the invoice, the Nugent accounting office (Chris) said that $211 for each of the three lights was the total of $633, as estimated. And the $438? The explanations offered changed, conflicted, and became increasingly creative. Among the explanations for the $438 were the following. ● Nugent charged $40 for each electrical ceiling box installed to support the lights. Nugent said $40 was a reduction from its “book rate” of $65 each. Those same boxes sell at Home Depot for approximately $3 each, less when purchased in quantity. ● The remaining $318 ($438 - $120) was for extra time, beyond 45 minutes, for each of the three repairs, billed in one-half hour increments, which is the shortest time increment Nugent bills. However, in our home, two of the three lights were repaired within 45 minutes. (Note that if each of three repairs runs over the 45 minutes by only a minute or two, Nugent will charge $318 for an additional one and one-half hours of work.) ● Nugent argued that the extra charges were justified by what Nugent “saved” us in drywall repairs by not needing to cut the drywall. So the less Nugent does, the more it charges. We were never told before or during the jobs that there might be additional charges for time or for materials – and certainly not for such excessive and creative pricing of time and materials. Consequently, we cannot recommend Nugent & Sons to others.

Vincent and his crew did a remarkable job with the installation of a sub panel and components for our new pool. He made many recommendations and was very thorough with the details on what was involved. They installed a 240v Hayward pool heater, 110v Jandy pool pump, wireless Jandy Iaqua-link low voltage system, ran 20amp service to my shed and back patio, and he relocated/wired up our hot tub. The work was clean and very professional. The knowledge he has is unbelievable. He worked with the other contractors to keep on schedule and also worked with the county to make sure all was inspected prior to covering/closing. I couldn’t ask for a better company to do the job. The time it took to do things right the first time is always important. LV electric is one of a kind. If you ever want honesty, integrity and good pricing, you want LV. Two workmen showed up at the designated time and installed 'in wall' electrical for undercabinet lighting in the wall along with trouble shooting additional 3-way light switches, dimmers, and USB outlets. I scheduled this company but they never showed. The lead estimator then lied and said that he had called and "went onsite but had no luck." Integrity and honesty is a big deal for me; the fact that someone is lying for such pettiness should say enough and reflect poorly on this company. I don't know about the quality of their work, but based on this anecdotal evidence, I'm glad they weren't hired.
