Active Appliance Inc
On 5/11/13, service rep Victor Zti showed up at the appointed time, took photos of the cooktop and wrote down the serial number, make and model number on his work order. Said that he needs to order the part and would be back in 3 business days to complete the repair work. He asked for and collected a service fee of $60. He never called or returned. I contacted the company a week later and was told that the home warranty company denied the claim. Upon further checking, the company, Active Appliance told me that the service rep had determined that the cooktop was mis-used and reported as such to the home warranty company. I asked how such determination was made, but did not get any response other than it was in his professional judgement. Asked why this determination was not shared with me when the service rep was at my home on the 11th. There was no response. I asked if my check for $60 would be returned and was told no. Can you believe this? I called Active Appliance again and asked if they had an estimate to repair the cooktop. The service rep on the phone took my number and said that I'd be contacted with an estimate. Again, received no call. I would not do business with this company - never pay in advance.

The person who came to do the work is Larry. I really liked him. My overall experience with him was very good. I have worked with him a couple of times in the past. His prices are very reasonable. He is very punctual. He shows up when he says he is going to show up. He seems to be very honest. In fact he even went out there to fix the original stove. He didn't even charge me for that visit. I had decided to forget and not try to repair the old stove; I would get a new stove. He came and installed the new stove. He came back and did not even charge me for the time he had to first go around. I would definitely use him in the future.

If I had to describe Tony in one word it would be AWESOME. I was looking for an electrician and found someone who could do everything. He installed my light fixtures, electric stove, range hood, curtain rods and replaced or tighten light sockets. Since I purchased a foreclosure the electrical outlet needed for the new stove was missing. The cabinet needed to attach a over-the-range microwave was also missing. Tony instaled a new electrical outlet, picked out and installed a beautiful range hood. He also clean up after every project. Tony was great and I will be calling him back for other projects.

My electric stove is 59 years old. Twenty years ago I replaced two burners. They needed replacing again. The repairman found that not only the two burners needed replacing but also all four switches. Tony, the repairman, was very thorough working with this stove. His first call was over two hours long. He had to come a second time and this call went faster. He did excellent work. The price I paid for labor was very fair. The only complaint I had about price was the price of the parts ($900). But I don't think Lerman had any control over that. I remember that twenty years ago the repair parts were very expensive then.

I spoke with Larry on the phone explaining that we had a 3 year old cooktop that could not start a flame. Larry agreed to come out and change out the cooktops for us. He came out took a look at our 3 year old cooktop and recommended I call the brand supplier because the cooktop was definitely repairable and calling the supplier direct, I would be able to get the exact parts. He save me about $1000 since the new cooktop was over $1400. Larry did not charge me anything, even though I was willing to pay for his time and advice. He's honest, prompt, and professional. I would use him again, and again! The brand/supplier sent out a repair person who confirmed Larry's recommendation.

Super Service Award Recent Review: When I called AAA, i asked the manager to make sure to send someone who could handle all the different brands, and he did. Stan was great to work with, totally competent and honest. I hadn't originally planned for the dryer vent or the stove top, but it just made sense. I'm not 100% sure of the price i listed above, because I don't have the various bills in front of me. Stan assessed the problem, fixed what he could and came back another day with the parts that needed ordering. I would totally recommend them and use them again.
