We have used Manjit Singh for many years for any problems with our appliances and have always been happy. Recently our air conditioner went out and we used his services for this too. We received the same excellent advice and service from him for the air conditioner that we have come to expect. He always shows up at the time he tells you (no waiting around during a "window" of hours) and will give you honest advice about whether to repair or replace. We highly recommend Mr. Singh for any of your appliance and HVAC needs.

It has gone excellently! Carey, the manager came out and gave us a variety of options on the efficiency of the appliances to work with our home. He helped us select exactly what we needed. They were on time, efficient and done within a couple of hours. Everything works great and we continue to have a maintenance contract with them! They even give you the energy paperwork if you would like to use it for your taxes.

I suspect many of us that have had a poor experience w/AHS could write a novel (or at least a blog). My write up is long but the summary is, the service is so poor, their claims fraudulent, the companies they work with so incompetent (I think they treat AHS like 2nd class citizens), that my tenant sent me a notice they were going to vacate the property and threatened to sue me. If you want to take a chance w/AHS for your own home despite all the blistering reviews go for it, but for a rental, be very careful because the implications are so much more profound. Run don't walk from this company for your rentals. I purchased AHS for both my personal home and a rental to take some of the hassle factor out of owning both homes. Instead I compounded my problems 100 fold by turning the routine process of calling a company, having them fix it and them your paying the bill into one of waiting over one hour each time to speak to a customer service rep, these employees LYING about what they can do to resolve your issue (so they can get you off the phone I guess), having to work w/the worst companies imaginable. Poor service, they never fix the issue correctly the first time, and you go on this perpetual roller coaster ride and in the end you jump off and think "my time and life is not worth this hassle. I'm just going to call my own company, have this simple problem fixed and cancel my membership." NOTHING is worth this aggravation. They have one exception after another so in the end you are barely covered but as many other reviewers have stated, the most egregious part is that they must know they are working with companies that are barely licensed, completely incompetent and they can't offer/won't any resolution. A/C repair: My a/c issues began last year 2019. The unit was switching on/off. 1st technician said, it's the capacitor - good thing you called, I'll swap this out (and you can pay me extra and I'll clean your other unit). Next day, problem didn't go away. They send someone else - it's your wiring. I'll fix it but you really should get a new unit. Your company won't cover as they want to repair your units till they collapse, but here's my quote. $12K for a unit that is about $6K from other companies (one thing you'll notice is that any out of pocket estimate from a contractor AHS sends is much higher than the industry standard). By this time, fall had come around (it takes time to schedule these multiple appts and they don't come out quickly), and the A/C unit was no longer needed. Next year, tenant says same issue. I call, new company says "your breaker doesn't have enough amperage." We check, it's got PLENTY OF amperage - 40 or higher/I've forgotten. By this time, they had left, they had closed out the ticket and I re-opened and they closed it out again and said call us directly. They come out again (there were many other things that happened w/this company concerning scheduling, etc. but it took close to a month to get them back out) and of course check the electrical panel and I told them "it's got the correct amps." They go back up, look for an hour and say "you need a new compressor." They can't work on this. Apparently they submit the claim to AHS, and AHS sends them the parts. WOW! These parts don't get over nighted either. 5 days later I was still waiting. I guess this is part of how AHS controls costs. Later that night, the tenant calls to say the a/c isn't working at ALL. I call at 7 and the company (YAZD Mechanical) states "we can't come out, because once a repair request goes in, we can't be liable to touch the machine in." In what industry are you allowed to leave something in worse shape and then won't come back to fix? I had an a/c that was working but intermittently cutting off to one that wasn't working at ALL. I call AHS laying out this whole ordeal. I also forgot to mention I have an R-22 unit which means I would have to pay over $1000 for the refrigerant. I told AHS, I wouldn't mind because it's part of the agreement but you are sending companies that don't know what they are doing AND is damaging my units. How do I know a compressor repair is going to work? Why would I pay $1K when it may not resolve the issue and no one is going to refund the money. The customer svc rep listened and talked to her managers, her name was Mary, and indicated they were so sorry, they understand how many mistakes had happened w/my requests and mgmt went ahead and ordered a full HVAC replacement. I was supposed to get an email in 3 days stating two options - they would replace the unit w/their company or b, I could select a cash out. I was so grateful for her help and thought - finally! 3 - 5 days later no email. I talked w/the initial rep on Mon. On Fri I call to check in (did I mention the one hour wait times to speak to a live person)? The person says my request has been expedited - I should get an answer ASAP. BTW, one sentence in this review takes an hour over the phone to address so know that most of your discretionary time is going to spent on the phone. Sat morning, no email so I call again. After an hour wait, someone answers, we speak through the issue and she states, well it states that you requested a cash out for your compressor because you didn't want the refrigerant and there is nothing about the new H/VAC so call this other number and they will tell what the cash out is. WHAT? Where is this coming from? I asked them "pull the audio recording. Your company records calls, Mary the rep said at least 10 times, you are approved for a NEW H/VAC system." The rep said it would take more than 24 hours but in the meantime to call the HVAC replacement dept to get my options. I said no, because your notes clearly incorrectly states any pay out is going to be for a compressor. I was verbally assured I would receive a new HVAC unit given the fact that for over a year I had to deal w/this issue, they couldn't resolve, this YAZD Mechanical comp which magnified the issue by breaking my unit, etc. etc. I even said, I can tell you just want to pass me on the next unit. She assured me she would look into it, would call me back the next day, hopefully Aug 2nd. We'll see. She did say if a rep from our company promised you a new HVAC you should receive that. There are so many issues w/this company it boggles the mind. They work w/the worst companies as mentioned, their customer service reps may have nice personalities and sound very accommodating but some of them are outright liars; their employees are committing FRAUD and no one seems outraged by this. So this is just one story, I have others but I don't have the energy to write anymore and I think you've gotten the point by now. My sister had 4 rentals, I have the 2 and I am still waiting for a final call back tomorrow but if this doesn't get resolved, I am going to call her and have her cancel.

I have used them for 25 years and they are wonderful. I would rate them high overall. They explained what they had learnt now and what I had not learnt. They told me what was necessary to keep the washer healthy. They told me that I had to use a certain detergent with hot water. They rebuilt it for a very low cost. I paid $60 for the air conditioner and $75 for the washer. They deserve high ratings.

His prices are excellent and the gentleman who runs the company has always been successful in repairing every appliance he's ever touched at a very low cost.

Have you ever found a service tech or other tradesperson that was so awesome that you were almost afraid to let everyone else know? Yeah, that would by Ankur, owner of All Appliance Solutions. I have an older built-in refrigerator that is a complete lemon. Replacing it would cost a fortune, so I have had it repaired more times than I can count, using half a dozen different companies over the last 7 years. Ankur is the only reason it is running now. He is an extremely knowledgeable and polite young man and his service is fantastic. His rates are also far more reasonable than the other repair services I have used. He is now my go to guy for all things refrigeration, including AC. To be frank, I am bewildered by a couple of the other reviews here.

BEWARE! These folks have the same address as "Cool Breeze dba AC Appliance". It's the same company. I initiated a claim with my home warranty company (with whom I have had no issues) for ny DACOR cooktop and they assigned "AC Appliance (later to find out is Cool Breeze dba AC appliance" with the same address as "All Appliance Services" and Phyllis is the same contact for both, or rather all three companies. I made the initial call for an appointment on or about October 17. Some called me back to make the initial appointment (I can't recall---didn't need to make notes at this point because I didn't know lack if service would be an issue.) At a later date, I made an appointment with "Nash" for October 19. 2011 between 5 and 7 o"clock p.m. I even ordered pizza so "Cool Breeze dba AC Appliance sharing the same address with All Appliance Services" would have access to my cooktop. At 7:00, I called "Nash" on his cell phone to find out why he had not called nor showed for the appointment. When I called, he was at least a 30 minute drive away. He asked when he could be at the house that night and I told him he would have to be out by 8:00 since I have a young child. He never showed up nor did he call. On October 20, Phyllis called at approximately 4:00 and left a message to schedule my "refrigerator repair." On Friday, October 22, I called the offices "Cool Breeze dba AC Appliance which has the same address as 'All Appliance Services' and Phyllis is the same contact for both, or rather, all three companies." to see what happened to my appointment, She told me she heard Nash call my number "numerous times" and there was no answer. According to my caller ID he called about 5 times and left one message. I told her I had made the appointment with Nash directly. She then told me she "was the only on in the office" at that time and other calls holding. She asked if she could call me back. I told her that I was going to have to leave the house within 15 minutes to go to Court. She told me "lots of people" get mad about not getting a return phone call and she needed an alternate number at which to contact me, I told her I was not permitted a cell phone in the courthouse (where I serve as a volunteer advocate for abused/neglected children) and it would be best to contact me at my primary phone number. Not only did Phyllis not call me within the time she said she would, there was no indication on my house caller ID that she even called the number., Phyllis has since lied to my home warranty company about her attempts to schedule appointments with me. And when I called my home warranty company to tell them I no longer wanted to deal with "Cool Breeze dba AC Appliance which has the same address as 'All Appliance Services' and 'Phyllis' is the same contact for both, or rather, all three companies", my home warranty company called Phyllis to tell her this and she left a voice mail on both my home phone and my cell phone (which I never provided to Phyllis because I have call forwarding on my house phone.) My home warranty company has since reassigned the claim to another company.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine although I did have contact with them because of the way the deal was worded. The deal said heating and cooling and they said they could only do one. So it was a little misleading because I thought i was getting a service check for both and it wasn't. I asked them about that because I was a little frustrated with that and they said it was obvious, that I should have known that they can't do both systems at the same time. I'm not an expert of that and I had no idea that that was physically impossible. I didn't realize this but they said they couldn't do the A/C because I guess it wasn't hot enough outside to do the unit. They didn't really explain that to me either. They just whatever they could but didn't really tell me until afterwards. The work was fine, it was just a little frustrating based on the deal.

Bethesda Maytag Repair

I called the "Bethesda Maytag Repair" number. Got a nice reception (from Teresa) where she made an appointment the next business day at 9am and asked for a $55 fee for the service person to come and make a diagnosis and provide a quote. If I decided to go ahead with the service, the $55 would be applied to the quote. After providing my credit card number, I hung up. It then occurred to me that I did not know the exact name of the company so I called back to speak with Teresa. I was concerned that I provided my credit card number to an unknown company. The man answering said that she would call me back. After 30 min, I called again - she was not available so I asked to speak with a supervisor. After many questions on my part I finally determined that I was calling a 1-800 service that hired local contractors. I asked who that local contractor was, name an phone number. I received Abrey name and number. I called him and he said that he could not make 9am but could do 1pm. I asked what company and he said he was an independent contractor. The next day at 1:30 I called him, he said his truck's water pump had broken and he would be coming in his personal car. He arrived at 2:30 with another person in a separate car. They spend 45 minutes to determine that it was a broken regulator switch which they did not have the part and would return tomorrow. At this point I asked about the charge and was told he had a flat $150 charge, plus parts. I said that I understood the $55 fee would be applied to that. He said no, that was a separate arrangement. We argued and I finally said okay, with a plan to call "Bethesda Maytag Repair" for my $55 back. Abrey said he'd be back at 9am the following day. Noone came at 9am so at 9:30, I began to call. I was told that the parts store didn't open until 9am etc and then he promised he'd be there by 10:30. At 11:15 they arrived. The dryer was fixed and I paid him $200. Total cost: $255 (Part $50). Total time cost for me - 1.5 business days, without counting all the phone calls. Next time, I am calling Sears. I am unimpressed with Angies list referrals. While the contractor did the job and was polite, there clearly was a bate and switch on the fees with this system. At least with Sears, you get responsiveness and up front truthful estimates and prompt service. Here is their posting: Bethesda Maytag Repair Is this your business? Convenient, small room-sized window air conditioners are perfect for cooling off apartments, additions, or homes not yet equipped with central air conditioning. When window air conditioners break, however, a reliable, trusted repair service is sometimes hard to find.

How Window Air Conditioner Repair is Done

Getting a window air conditioner repaired is often far easier and less costly than getting a central AC system repaired. A service technician will examine the unit for common problems:

  • Failure to start
  • Failure to cool
  • Insufficient cooling
  • Leaks

Window air conditioners break down for all the same reasons more robust systems do. The service technician is likely to remove the unit from the window, but is not likely to haul it away for service, since most parts can be swapped out on site.

How Much Does Window Air Conditioner Repair Cost?

The national average cost of window air conditioner repair is $226, but that obscures extreme ranges, from $50 to $800. The typical range falls somewhere between $106 and $348.

Finding A Repair Service

Just as with their bigger brothers, window air conditioners need qualified, trusted service technicians to repair them.

You can use the above List of A/C window repair companies near you to find the best pros in your area. Consider calling three HVAC contractors for repair estimates before authorizing work to ensure a great price. Sometimes the cost to repair the unit is more than the cost of buying a newer, more energy-efficient model. So be sure to weigh the estimates against the cost of a new unit.
