Electrician arrived a little over an hour late but identified problem as a failed motor on the existing attic fan. Motor was replaced and job completed within two hours. Estimate for the job had not been provided in advance and I was taken aback by the labor charge presented. I subsequently spoke with the owner who apologized for an advance quote not being provided and for what he agreed was an excessive charge for the work performed. Expressing commitment to customer satisfaction, he graciously agreed to what I proposed as a fair charge. Very impressive!

Blade damaged by a storm caused the fan to malfunction and break down. The tech replaced it and answered all of my questions about operating the new fan. Great work!

Attic fan didn't start and was assigned this company through my home warranty insurance. (That is why the amount spent is listed as zero.) Fixing the appointment was fast and easy. Ric came promptly on time. He was extremely efficient. Found the problem (fan died and had to be replaced). He got a fan from his truck and replaced it on the spot. My initial call to the company was excellent. I spoke with Dustin regarding everything I wanted to have done. He was awesome, answered all my questions and made me feel like I was putting my home in good hands. It took about a week or so to get an appointment due to the amount of work I wanted to have done. They sent out two electricians Dave and Alan, both electricians were very pleasant and professional. It was about six hours of work in the end. They completed everything I wanted and did an exceptional job. They were sure to discuss all the options with me prior to installing the recessed lighting and reviewed all the work with me after completion. I was very pleased, and the final charge was less than the initial estimate. I was sure to use my Angie's List coupon and they were happy to take it, I saved $100. It was an overall great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to refer this company or use them again. Great work!

The electrician arrived at the scheduled time, reviewed the work that had been indicated and proceeded to work. The work was extremely satisfactory and the electrician provided in-depth description of what he was doing. The skill level was most impressive.

Dispatch was helpful when we called in both providing pricing and getting someone scheduled. Rob called and arrived on time on the morning scheduled. He replaced an outlet for us quickly and then figured out the attic fan problem. We were prepared to replace the attic fan, per a home inspection. Rob was honest to tell us the switch was just backwards and it in fact was just off, even though it appeared to be on. Silly we had to have a tech out for this find, but at least he was honest and didn't just replace the fan. Rob was knowledgable that the switch should technically be in sight of the fan, so he quickly moved it to appropriate spot and covered the original switch hole. Rob was on time, friendly, quick, efficient and left no mess. And in comparison shopping they were priced well as well. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Tackled a more difficult work environment than anticipated, ie steep roof sloop and no flooring under attic fan to provide work space - without complaint or irritation. We used/tried to use Sam and Sons a few times and their service went from excellent down hill each time. We had a great electrician do a number of install/repairs in the Spring of 2009. It was a bit pricey but professional and well done. Around Thanksgiving 2009, we requested a plumber who did good work and was scheduled and arrived promplty but was quite expensive. We also requested a estimate for additional carpentry/door repairs but never got the quote. We even called twice to follow up on the request and were promised a call back first within a few days then in few hours but never heard from them.

Great job installing cooktop - had to increase ampage at circuit breaker and install new wiring to deal with increased ampage. Cooktop did not fit granite space and so helped widen space with cutter to fit. all jobs done expertly and cleaned up after. Very courteous and fun. Would definitely use again.

Big Spring has become our go-to electrician. They have repaired exterior outlets, diagnosed and repaired attic fan issues. They are very careful to tell customers prices (they work from a price list, it seems); they are very prompt; they wear foot covers in the house and overall seem very professional.

I scheduled an appointment to repair attic fans this company installed for previous owner - now very loud and shaking the house. Did not show up for appointment. They called back the next day (after I called them) and did come out for follow up appointment where they investigated the situation, gave estimate, and set up repair appointment. Did not show up for that appointment and ignored my multiple follow up calls.

Electrician replaced our entire service panel and prepared a new outside cable for PEPCO hookup, replaced nonworking parts of our attic fan, and corrected polarity problems in outlets throughout the house. Electrician John arrived on time, discussed options for doing the work, worked efficiently, and explained all the work that was being done. The office was responsive to our requests and arranged appointments, county inspection, and paperwork in a timely manner. We gladly recommend this company to others.

Steve, Julie and their son are very professional in their approach to customer service. If they run behind, they always communicate what time they will arrive. Since I have used their services multiple times and for many jobs, they are good at promptly assessing what can and cannot be done on a service visit. If the job is a large one, they typically include other services without additional charge (ie. when I had 8 recessed lights put in, they also updated other outlets in the same room to decora style). I deal with lots of contractors through my job and have been pleased with their service each and every time.

Everything was great from start to finish. Ron was punctual, got the job done in the time requested and the price was reasonable. I need Ron to do the job quickly due to my upcoming closing and he made it work with his schedule.

Workmen were professional and competent. Everything works. To handle circuits that were overloaded with too many outlets, they suggested installing new circuits - since I now had a brand new circuit breaker box. I am very pleased with this suggestion - it was relatively simple and greatly eased the load on the old circuits.

I submitted my request for service online, and within an hour I received a phone call from Root Electric. We set up a date for them to come out and look at what I needed done, and provide an estimate. On that date, Mr. Root showed up right on time, and we discussed what I wanted done. He confirmed what I had thought about my attic fan not working, and recommended that instead of install a new one to have the same fan motor built and orderd. He said it would take longer to get the fan, bu twould be easier to install and cheaper than installing a new one. He then gave me a rough estimate on the all the work before he left. Only had to query them once about the status of the repair, and from then on out they would updated me week about the status of the attic fan that was on order. Once the attic fan was received, they set up a date to come and do all the work. Once again, on that date they were right one time, and conducted all the work quickly and in a very professional manner. I was very impressed with the two guys woh did the work. It was a hot day, and they were stuffed up in that hot attic for a good while, but did the work and never complained. Since having the attic fan repaired, there is a very noticable difference in how cool or upstairs feels on very hot/humid days.
