A-1 CONCRETE LEVELING
About two years ago the concrete porch on my 42 year old house developed a crack probably due to soil settling beneath it. At first it was just a minor crack but it eventually expanded causing the porch to sag about 2.5 inches in the middle. The fact that the porch has three columns that supports a substantial gabled overhang made this major concern. I did some checking and found it would cost between six and eight thousand dollars to replace the porch. While researching other options, I came across a process called mudjacking. The process entails strategically drilling holes in the affected slab and pumping in slurry which then lifts the slab. The slurry eventually hardens providing a stable substrate beneath for the slab. After researching some companies I contacted A1 Concrete Leveling. Mark Howley came to my home and did an evaluation and determined mudjacking would work. The following week Mark arrived on schedule. In about 4 hours he leveled the slab, filled in the cracks, ground the holes he drilled flush with the surface and completely cleaned the area. I am pleased with the work especially considering it cost me substantially less than what replacing the slab would have set me back.

A-1 CONCRETE LEVELING
A sidewalk along garage to the house porch had a big and long void. The company made four holes in four different sections of the sidewalk and filled void with grout. Everything was fine. I called some other concrete coampies and got a proposal from one of them but they would not drill holes and fill from top. They would fill from a side. It was cheaper but I thought that is more appropriate to do mudjacking instead to make sure that all void is filled.

Everything went just great. The gentleman who provided the estimate, Steven, was punctual and provided his estimate in just a few days after visiting the site. The situation was somewhat complicated. Our aggregate driveway was falling apart in some places and we wanted just those places repaired. However, we discovered that the ground underneath the driveway had fallen away from the bottom of the driveway by about 6 inches!!! (This was over a 50 year period.) Steven suggested we talk to companies who do mudjacking to see if it could be repaired. We did that, but it couldn't be repaired that way. During the process of figuring out what we wanted to do, we explored installing a heated driveway; replacing the current driveway with concrete vs aggregate vs colored concrete; and other things I can't remember. I am sure we were a PITA. Once the job started, Steven came to the house and talked with the site supervisor and me about the work, then a crew of about 6 fellows work liked demons for 3 days. Replacing that aggregate walkway was not easy. There were decorative stones which had to be matched. The color of the aggregate could not be exactly matched (which Steven told us at the very start), but they came close. I added some work once they started, which was priced as a change order. All in all, we couldn't be happier. I have recommended them to other people and they have also been pleased. They do very good work for the price and are professional! They hire their own workers and don't use pickup or subs.
