- Shenon ConstructionKitchen remodels are hard. The most important room in the house is off-line. One of your bathrooms has to become a default sink in kitchen. So it takes a lot of patience to live in the house while your kitchen is being remodeled. Everything went basically according to plan there were some delays because of supply chain issues and changes that we wanted made that were not part of the original plan. But all in all we got through it fine. Tom in his right hand man, Adam, were responsive to our needs and if any problems came up they took care of it. Tom is exceptionally patient and good natured. Same for Adam. I would definitely use them again
- Shenon ConstructionShenon Construction did an excellent job on our recently purchased home in Eagle Rock. We had the wood floors sanded/refinished and painted the entire interior of the house. We also had a custom built entertainment cabinet put in place of where a non-functioning fireplace used to be. The counter of the primary bathroom was replaced, as well. Tom Shenon and his team were very easy to work with and we are very happy with their work. We needed the work done relatively quickly, since we needed to be moved in within a month. Tom made sure we were able to move into a livable space while some of the other work continued within the house. The project came in with the budget we agreed upon. It was usually most efficient to deal with Tom directly, but he had a great team of sub-contractors doing the different phase of work. We were particularly impressed with Julio, who designed and built the custom cabinets to fit a very specific space. The painters and floor refinishers were very professional as well. We plan to do some more work on our house in the near future and hope to hire Shenon Construction again. I guess in and of itself that is the one of the best recommendations I can give
- So Cal Builders & Design IncAfter submitting some basic requirements on Angies List, I received an email and call from SoCal Builders & Design. I spoke with Alex on the phone and noted what I was looking to do and helped me schedule a meeting appointment. Marina reached out the night before and confirmed our meeting time and date. With most companies they typically give you a window of time and far often too wide a range for anyone to have a life that day. Our meeting was scheduled at a specific time and Roei (Pronounced Roy) showed up at that exact time! I realize that not everyone and certainly not all business can function in precise time slots, but as someone that is a planner and appreciates a set schedule, I knew this was a great first impression. Roei was fantastic. We didn’t know anything about the industry or what was involved and he clearly laid out and set proper expectations. Every question was answered and more importantly it felt like you had a buddy over that was visiting which is great when having someone you don’t know in your home. Another electrician said some of the conduit connections were wrong and had to be redone. Jack looked at the setup and said that since it had the meter seal from Southern California Edison from the original job that everything was ok. SCE had signed off and any other needs about the meter were SCE's purview. I also checked with the city inspector and he said that according to the plans and the city signoff on the work that there didn't look to be any code violations. Jack had perfectly answered my questions about the solar connections that I will pass along to the real estate agent about the projected work not being necessary. Continuing from above: At first I noticed that he was drilling holes so low that mirror would end up partially below the level of the faucets. He had started drilling before asking us how high we wanted the mirror. When I returned I saw that he was attaching the mounting bracket at where the bottom of the mirror would be located. The mounting bracket should go at the top. Who hangs a mirror from the bottom? He had the installation instruction booklet. Finally he hung the mirror. That's when I noticed that the light control button was on the top, not the bottom where it should be. I asked him to reverse the mirror. He agreed. But that is when he pointed out that the corner of the mirror was broken. He said I should report it to the company because it came out of the box that way. Then I noticed that the opposite corner was also broken. For that he had no explanation. In order to diplomatically get him out of our home I told him I would take the mirror back to Home Depot. After he left, here is what I found: There were tiny bits of glass all over our dressing room carpet. There were no bits of glass in the shipping box. This shows that the mirror broke in the dressing room. We discovered a three-inch hole punched into the back of the mirror casing along with several scratches. The next day my wife, who is a psychotherapist, called Rodney Grace, who in reality is RLG electric, to ask him to take responsibility for the damaged mirror. He blew up at her and insulted her. I tried calling Angi three times. Each time I selected one of the options I was disconnected. Finally I got through. A representative whom I could barely hear told me someone would return my call. No one did. Today, I discovered a voice mail on my cellphone. I had never offered my cell number, so I am not sure how you got it unless your agent used the number I had called from originally instead of the contact number I gave you. I have now reordered the mirror and hired another contractor. He pointed out that RLG should have installed a junction box in the wall before mounting the mirror. Otherwise he would have been violating the building code. Note: I have pictures of the holes, cracked glass, and back-of-mirror puncture.
