FAQs

  • A domain name is your website name, the address where Internet users can access your website.
  • Computers use IP addresses, which are a series of number. However, it is difficult to remember strings of numbers hence domain names are used for finding and identifying entities on the internet rather than using IP addresses.
  • A domain name can be any combination of letters and numbers, and it can be used in combination of the various domain name extensions, such as .com, .net and more.
  • The domain name must be registered before you can use it. Every domain name is unique. No two websites can have the same domain name
  • A TLD (Top-Level Domain) is the last extension of a domain name, it is the highest level in the hierarchical Domain Name System of the Internet. The most well known examples of TLDs are .com, .net and .org. Generally, these TLDs are labeled "gTLDs", which is just an acronym for Generic Top Level Domain.
  • Under a new less restrictive process, ICANN has said there is potential for the creation of up to 1000 new TLDs per year. These new TLDs are simply called nTLDs. Many nTLDs, such as .online, .store, .tech, have been created and are available today for registration.
  • .online is a new domain extension with an aim to de-clutter the internet namespace in the retail industry.
  • If the primary goal of your website is to sell, nothing says it better than a .online. Whether on a search engine listing or a print ad, users know that a .online is a place to buy from.
