    Sorry!!!

I have a brain injury and didn’t see that when I tried to ask this before, I didn’t write the question accurately.

It’s my desktop pages that are fast, and my AMP pages, using this plugin, that are slow.

Why are my AMP pages 14 times slower than my desktop pages???

Desktop – .8 seconds to load (less than one second)
AMP – 13.2 seconds to load

    ????????

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@considerthis1 I see you’re using AMP v2.0.11 which does not include the hero image prerendering. Once you update to v2.1 you’ll get that which will reduce your Largest Contentful Paint (LCP). Other performance improvements are also included in this release. You may want to wait for v2.1.2 which we’re planning to release early next week.

Thank you so much, Mr. Ruter.

I was afraid to update. I appreciate you laying my fears to rest. Next week sounds good.

I do wonder if my site is actually AMP.

Since I turned off Auto Ads my old ads are showing on my mobile pages the same way as on my desktop pages.

@considerthis1 – yes it is the AMP page – if you click the waterfall tab in GTmetrix, for the AMP page, you’ll see that it is calling “cdn.ampproject.org” early in the load.

    In here -> https://gtmetrix.com/compare/oT4gzbtm/mhBgjo0h > Waterfall

That’s a simplified version, but its a quick and easy way to confirm you’re looking at an AMP!

Another way is to view source and you’ll see you’re looking at an AMP by the amp-html stuff at the top:

    view-source:https://health-boundaries.com/vitamin-b12-and-fingernails/?amp

Why you’re not getting the lightning bolt is perhaps a different question. It is worth checking Google Search Console for any AMP specific errors (and warnings).

You can run it through Google’s online AMP test, too:

    https://search.google.com/test/amp?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhealth-boundaries.com%2Fvitamin-b12-and-fingernails%2F%3Famp

This is looking valid now! It may be worth considering switching AMP to “Transitional” or “Standard” mode in your AMP settings, which make serving the AMP version the default – BUT this is something of a decision point your side, and probably only do that if you’re happy with how AMP content is looking and working.

You’re such a Knight In Shining Armor!!!!!

    Thank you.

I spent a lot of time looking at my pages in search, and they have the lightening bolt now.

But I’m not getting the traffic I previously did. So I’m rewriting my pages so that the google quote is more like those that get better positioning.

Do you know, when I began my site it was the only one with fingernails and health… and now there are dozens of pages, to include Mayo Clinic, that have pages like mine… I suppose I’m flattered, but I want to regain some of my traffic because my pages are better re information…

I do wonder why my stats don’t show referrals from cdn.ampproject.org. When I was in the google study group re amp years ago, and then after that when I published a new blog page my site got 60 or more “referrals” from that cdn. But then I talked about it on this forum and someone must have decided to stop it, and it did stop. I was crushed.

I’m copying your reply to my computer so that I can easily go back to the information. I really appreciate the help you’ve given me.

As an aside, when I was checking out search, most sites that were listed pages of results before my site… did NOT have the amp lightening bolt… [redacted]

The only thing I don’t understand is why my Adsense income is almost entirely from desktop… Previously the vast majority of my visitors came via mobile… so I continue to thing that something is… w r o n g.

@considerthis1 I understand you’re recovering from a TBI (as much as anyone can), but please do not post conspiracy theories in the forums. Asking for help is fine, but bringing in twitter claims is not.

You may have to ask Google directly about why Adsense is shifting, but they never answer. At a guess, since more people are at home now and not traveling due to the Pandemic, it’s probably a simply case of more people are using desktops.

Your remark about my health is abusive! You have no right to make comments saying that I cannot regain any more function.

I will Not come back to this forum, and I will try to avoid them all since you represent the Authority. You are Disgusting to treat a disabled person the way you have treated me.

    Disgusting.

That may be for the best.

I’m very sorry @considerthis1 but after discussing it with the other moderators I am closing this topic. I am also disabling your account access to these forums.

We have all been trying to be understanding but for whatever reason, you are often abusive to the volunteers here. You have made many inappropriate comments regarding ethnicity as well as more than a few questionable statements. Your behavior has ranged from very grateful for support (and that was good) to bullying people trying to support you.

If you have any questions regarding your disabled account please send an email to [email protected] Someone will assist you there.
