I had an eye on this model for quite a while, but when it initially came out, I wasn’t sure about liking the glass holder/charger which required a toothbrush to be tilted and not straight up, and decided to go for a lower 7300 model. Now, the other model just quit working and I went back to this one again. thanks to few YouTube reviews, I leaned that you do not need to use glass cup as a charger, it comes with a beautiful insert that is much easier to keep clean than the previous models chargers. It also had a perfectly flat bottom so no dirt is getting stuck there either. I’ve been Sonicare user for over 12 years as it is the best toothbrush on the market, this is my 4th or 5th one, and so far the best one, just love the upgrade.

I love this toothbrush! This is the first higher end toothbrush that I have used that I can confidentially say is noticeably impacting my oral hygiene. There is a very good level of vibration to control plaque! The size is perfect, and it looks very aesthetic on a counter top. I really recommend this toothbrush.

This product costs way too much outside of Amazon Prime Day!! Even with the discount these are pricey but they are more than worth the price. Many settings--gum care, tongue cleaning and deep clean--to name a few. Cool charging stand and excellent travel case with built-in charger. This is a great product!

I’ve owned Philips Sonicare toothbrushes since they were first introduced but always hated the charging systems. They were messy, lightweight and no matter how often I cleaned the charger it was always grimy around the charging post and even moldy on the bottom. Also too little and too light to hold the brush unit so constantly tipping over and twice breaking after the brushing unit fell and hit the tile floor. Philips finally solved the problem with this incredible DiamondClean Smart series. It’s wonderful…the glass charging system is perfect and the brush unit, glass and charger stay spectacularly clean and sanitary. I’m so glad I bit the bullet and bought this as my Christmas present. There was some negative reviews so I was wary but it’s been more than eight months and it still works perfectly. Holds a charge for over a week. Expensive but great brush heads. I use the one for gum health and it has improved my gums. Can’t recommend this enough and thank you Philips.

I bought this particular updated model of the DiamondClean electric toothbrush by Sonicare as a gift for my adult daughter. I have another one that I've had for at least three years. The brush does an excellent job of cleaning my teeth, especially between my teeth. I am all-thumbs when it comes to flossing my teeth. Using this brushes and having regular professional cleaning has proven effective in preventing tooth decay. When I first purchased my my DiamondClean, I had a problem charging it. I contacted the manufacturer, and they immediately sent me a new brushes body. I continues to have problems, and decided to use the travel charger for both brushes. That worked. I assumed the countertop charger was defective. I subsequently discovered by accident that the countertop charger would not work on my bathroom counter. I have no understanding why. When I moved, the charger worked fine on my new bathroom counter. Go figure!

My daughter is quite pleased with her new DiamondClean. She has always used Oral-B power toothbrushes, claiming Oral-B are better rated. She has not used it long enough to notice an appreciable difference in the effectiveness between both brushes. However, after she made the claim, I asked my dentist which brush brand he used. He said he uses the Sonicare brush. He added that most claims of one brand being better than the other are more likely marketing efforts. I feel certain you will be pleased with the DiamondClean brush. I have been using Sonicare products since they came to market nearly 30 years ago.

Update: Just noticed I received Model #HX993R, not the HX994/61 on the box. This was a sealed, new item, so I don't know why the different model #, but that might explain why it will turn off by itself after less than two months. I just don't see how I can trust any of these toothbrushes by Phillips anymore.

Original Review:
I've used an electronic Phillips DiamondCare toothbrush for as long as they've been making them- at least 15 years, maybe 20. I have a lot of family in the dental industry, so that's how I got started. They used to last for years and understandably, the batteries do eventually die. Then they got less and less reliable. My last one *may* have lasted a year, and in December, I needed to replace it. My cousin (dentist) gave me a new Oral B with the round head, but I just didn't feel it had the same intensity, and I couldn't stand the little frowny face on the handle if I didn't brush the full two minutes. I never bother with the app for the Phillips (except when I first got it to try it and thought nah), so that's a non-issue.

I ordered this Phillips in January and a few days ago, it seemed very weak when I brushed. I figured I must have hit one of the buttons and finally got it back on the higher intensity setting, but now it has a new quirk. After thirty seconds of brushing, it shuts off on its own. I tested it tonight and was very careful not to hit any buttons, and sure enough, it shut off after about thirty seconds.

So now I'm tossed up between replacing it with another Phillips or learning to love the Oral B I was given. I do know that I've lost a lot of faith in this brand gradually over the years because I can't count how many of these I've had to replace more and more frequently. Honestly, the ones that last the longest are the ones that come straight from the dentist's office. I doubt they want their "samples" to fail so fast, but the consumer market, Phillips just doesn't care. Doubt I'll pursue a warranty because I'm pretty sure I'll just get an identical piece of you-know-what IF they even honor the warranty for something bought two months ago. I'm over it.
