Los investigadores del IUFACyT Inmaculada Pascual y Sergi Gallego participan en la charla "Mujeres con luz propia: Dones ciència i llum" que, con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer Trabajadora, tendrá lugar el viernes día 5 de marzo a las 20:00 en la dirección meet.google.com/atc-sxtj-qyi y que está organizada por la Sede de Petrer y Campus de Alcoi de la Universidad de Alicante La charla tiene como objetivo introducir la exposición de Investigadoras en la luz que estará en la sede de Petrer y con posterioridad en el campus de Alcoi.

Los investigadores del IUFACyT Cristian Neipp, Jorge Francés, Sergi Gallego, Inmaculada Pascual, Andrés Márquez y Augusto Beléndez participan en el artículo "Roadmap on Holography" publicado por la revista Journal of Optics (Vol. 22, No. 12, art. ID 123002, 2020) que está editada por el Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP Publishing). El roadmap (hoja de ruta) está organizado en tres secciones: materiales, aplicaciones y conceptos, y cuenta con 24 contribuciones de investigadores de 32 instituciones diferentes. Los miembros del GHPO participan con tres contribuciones a este roadmap.

La ponente Pascuala García Martínez, profesora catedrática de la Universitat de València,  impartirá el próximo día 11 de febrero a las 11:00 vía Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/twc-pbno-vmf) una conferencia donde nos hablará de cómo crear un nuevo conocimiento utilizando el análisis de género, desde la revisión del número de mujeres en ciencia, en la que el número de mujeres universitarias supera al de los varones, y cómo estos números se van invirtiendo con el paso de los años, hasta llegar al tristemente real “techo de cristal” o discriminación vertical que sufrimos las mujeres. Trataremos la ciencia y la tecnología con perspectiva de género, explicando cómo la variable “género” tenida en cuenta, desgrana una ciencia más real e igualitaria y una ciencia aplicada a las mujeres. Por último, estudiaremos cómo llevar a cabo medidas compensatorias o positivas para revertir esta situaciones.

On December 15 (Tuesday, 16:00-19:00) will take place the online workshop on space robotics with the participation of GMV, the University of Cranfield and HURO. In the near future, several robotic platforms will be developed for exploration, construction, and maintenance in space environments. Orbital robotic manipulation or rendezvous, planetary rovers, robotics activities at satellites and spacecrafts are only a few examples of the use of robotics in space. This workshop aims to highlight new developments in the field of space robots with the participation of the following seminars:

El Grupo de Microondas y Electromagnetismo Computacional Aplicado (Gmeca), del Instituto de Física Aplicada a las Ciencias y las Tecnologías (IUFACyT) de la Universidad de Alicante, trabaja en un método para que pueda aumentar la potencia de este tipo de satélites evitando, a su vez, problemas con los efectos corona.

En ocasión del Día Internacional del Asteroide (Asteroid Day 2020) los miembros del grupo de Ciencias Planetarias (Astronomía y Astrofísica), perteneciente al IUFACyT, celebran el AD en un formato que mezcla breves presentaciones de miembros del grupo con preguntas y debate. Cada año celebramos el Seminario de Doctorandos, en el que toman parte los alumnos del Programa de Doctorado en Física Aplicada a las Ciencias y las Tecnologías. Este año tenemos un total de 12 presentaciones orales, a las que se añaden 15 comunicaciones adicionales de alumnos que este año han optado sólo por enviar el Resumen de dos hojas.

Desde la Sede de la Universidad de Alicante se ha organizado una conferencia del Dr. Carlos Hernández (Universidad de Salamanca), moderada por la Dra. Inmaculada Pascual, miembro del IUFACyT.

El Dr. Carlos Hernández ha recibido el premio de de la RSEF al investigador jóven en Física Teórica en 2019 y Premio Fresnel 2019 de la European Physical Society (EPS).

Tendrá lugar en la Sala Rafael Altamira, en la Sede Universitaria Ciudad de Alicante (C/ Ramón y Cajal, 4. Alicante), el jueves 6 de febrero a las 19:00h.

El catedrático de la Universidad de Alicante y miembro del IUFACyT, Sergi Gallego, ha sido nombrado "Fellow Member" de la Sociedad Internacional para la Óptica y la Fotónica (The International Society for Optics and Photonics, SPIE). El nombramiento como “Fellow” es una distinción para aquellos miembros de esta sociedad que han realizado contribuciones científicas y tecnológicas significativas en los campos de la óptica, la fotónica y las ciencias de la imagen.

The Planetary Sciences group, part of the University of Alicante Astronomy and Astrophysics research team, and involved in the European Space Agency's (ESA) Hera project, was given the green light by the European Space Agency's Ministerial Council on Thursday.

El investigador del IUFACyT y catedrático de la Universidad de Alicante, Sergi Gallego, ha sido nombrado "Senior Member" de la Sociedad Internacional para la Óptica y la Fotónica (The International Society for Optics and Photonics, SPIE) “en reconocimiento a sus logros en holografía y en moduladores espaciales de luz de cristal líquido”.

 A partir de hoy, la Secretaría del IUFACyT está ubicada en el Nuevo Edificio de Institutos (Código SIGUA 0204P1089).

This seminar "Workshop on Visual Appearance" is a meeting place for both scientists and professionals working with the visual appearance of materials to address new developments on the measurement of visual appearance.

El catedrático de la Universidad de Alicante, Andrés Márquez, ha sido nombrado "Fellow Member" de la Sociedad Internacional para la Óptica y la Fotónica (The International Society for Optics and Photonics, SPIE). El nombramiento como “Fellow” es una distinción para aquellos miembros de esta sociedad que han realizado contribuciones científicas y tecnológicas significativas en los campos de la óptica, la fotónica y las ciencias de la imagen.

Inmaculada Pascual, catedrática de óptica de la Universidad de Alicante e investigadora del IUFACyT, es la nueva presidenta del Comité de Técnicas de la Imagen (CTI) de la Sociedad Española de Óptica. Su elección ha tenido lugar en la Asamblea Ordinaria del CTI celebrada en Castellón el 5 de julio dentro de la XII Reunión Nacional de Óptica. El CTI tiene como objetivo estimular el desarrollo del conocimiento en el ámbito de la ciencia y las tecnologías de la imagen, desde la investigación científica, la enseñanza y las aplicaciones industriales y comerciales, en consonancia con los objetivos generales de la Sociedad Española de Óptica.

Andrés Márquez Ruiz, catedrático de la Universidad de Alicante e investigador del IUFACyT, ha sido nombrado "Senior Member" de la Sociedad Americana de Óptica (The Optical Society of America OSA), en reconocimiento de su trayectoria y logros profesionales en el campo de la óptica y la fotónica. La Junta Directiva de la OSA aprobó a primeros de junio el nombramiento de 168 científicos de todo el mundo como integrantes de esta categoría de miembros, los “Senior”. Para ser incluidos en este grupo, los investigadores deben ser miembros activos de la Sociedad y contar con al menos diez años de experiencia profesional significativa en el campo de la óptica.

Augusto Beléndez, catedrático de física aplicada de la Universidad de Alicante e investigador del IUFACyT, ha participado en los actos del 50 Aniversario de la Sociedad Española de Óptica con la impartición de la conferencia plenaria "Un clásico de la Física: Maxwell y su experiencia vital". Esta celebración ha tenido lugar el viernes 6 de julio en el Paraninfo de la Universitat Jaume I de Castellón, dentro de la XII Reunión Nacional de Óptica. La Sociedad Española de Óptica se constituyó en marzo de 1968. La creación de la Sociedad se realizó para estimular el desarrollo de la Óptica y, en particular, la investigación y las aplicaciones industriales de sus distintas ramas.

The Vision and Color Research Group of the IUFACyT develops a procedure to obtain natural nanopigments that are harmless to human health.
They offer greater resistance and a wide range of colors for products such as cosmetics, footwear, construction materials, furniture or toys, among many others.

On May 3, 2018, at 11:30 and by of the International Day of Light, Professor Augusto Beléndez,  researcher at IUFACyT, will give the lecture "James Clerk Maxwell: the man who changed the world forever ", the fourteenth of the Cycle Colloquium of Physics (Science of Today) of the Department of Applied Physics of the UA. The conference, which has also been organized by the Academic Coordination of the Degree in Physics of the Faculty of Sciences of the UA, will take place in the Board Room located in Phase II of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Alicante.

University of Alicante researchers have developed a new multifocal contact lens which rests on the white part of the eye (sclera) to correct presbyopia (or tired eyesight) with a more personalised design according to the specific needs of each user.

Particularly, the Research Group in Optics & Visual Perception has registered this highly permeable to gas contact lens called 'Presbycustom', which is an international cutting-edge technology, as stated by UA researcher David Piñero.

Aquest premi és concedit cada any pel periòdic La Vanguardia, sent els propis lectors els qui voten quin és el descobriment més important de l'any realitzat a Espanya. La recerca, realitzada per un consorci liderat per José Luis Ortiz de l'Institut d'Astrofisica d'Andalucia, ha portat al descobriment d'un anell entorn del planeta nan Haumea, publicat en Nature a l'octubre de 2017. Aquesta troballa suggereix que els anells són comuns en els petits astres gelats del sistema solar exterior.

The researcher of the IUFACyT of the University of Alicante, Carolina Pascual, has been appointed recently dean of the Official School of Engineers of Telecommunication of the Valencian Community, (COITCV), in replacement of Sergio Goterris that has exerted the charge from March of 2016.

With the aim to put to disposal of the European Union the infrastructures devoted to the astrophysics of the high energies and promote the design of detectors to implement in space observatories futures like the telescope Athena, the University of Alicante participates from 2015 in the European Project AHEAD (Integrated Activities for the High-Energy Astrophysics Domain).

The chair of Physics Applied and researcher of the IUFACyT, Augusto Beléndez Vázquez, has received the prize Education and Divulging of the Physics, in the modality University Education, that concedes annually the Real Sociedad Spanish of Physics (RSEF) and the Foundation BBVA (FBBVA)

The member of the group GMECA, Miguel Ángel Sánchez Soriano, will assist and will present a scientific work in the international congress International Microwave Symposium (http://www.ims2016.org/), to celebrate in San Francisco (U.S.) of the 22 to 27 May . Said evento is the most important to world-wide level in the field of the engineering of microwaves. The scientific program-technician tackles the advances in investigation and development in radiofrecuencia, microwaves, waves milimétricas and technologies of the terahercios. The 470 articles selected (of the more than 1.000 articles sent) will be presented between oral and interactive presentations. Likewise, some 600 companies related with the technologies of the radiofrecuencia and microwaves will expose his products in the room of exhibition enabled in the congress. It expects the assistance of some 10.000 people, between engineers, scientists, expositores and governmental agents.

Next Tuesday 19 April, and dendro of the cycle of conferences on astronomy, the professor Adriano Field Bagatín will give the conference titled "AIDA: A SPACE MISSION TO PROTECT To THE EARTH". It will take place in the University Headquarters City of Alicante, C/ Ramón and Cajal, 4.

The work, "The Light that wraps us", realised by the chair of Physics Applied of the University of Alicante, Augusto Beléndez Vázquez, has resulted finalist in the First Prize of Journalism 'Forum Transfers' of Support to the Scientific Divulging, Technological and Innovative.

Researchers of the GHPO will participate in this multidisciplinary forum where looks for advance in the development of the optics and the photonic in subjects like metamateriales, nanofotónica, biofotónica, quantum technologies, optical sensors, photonic fibres and technologies laser, among others.
