Chimney Cap Replacement in Ashburn

Overall the representatives were very friendly and did not try to sell any items that were not needed (cleaning, upgrades, etc). He even explained how to go about cleaning the inside of the fireplace. When it came to replacing the chase cover, the order was placed and within a week the new chase cover was installed. Unfortunately the chase cover was damaged, which was missed by the installation crew. Without question, the damaged chase cover was replaced with another new one within a week!

I said this before, but I'll say it again. Mixing Bowl is our "first call" for an all-purpose contractor. This was our second experience with Mixing Bowl. We had new shower valves and controls installed. Joel is a master plumber--he installed all new shower hardware and repaired a pin-hole leak in less than 4 hours. Superior workmanship, consummate professionalism and unmatched customer service.

It was a difficult job because of the narrow dimensions of the chimney, but they did an excellent job of repairing the damage and installing new stove pipes. They also had to remove and replace brickwork.

They did a great job installing everything in 2012, going extra fast before super-storm Sandy blew in. Recently, the chimney flex-cap turned out to be defective, and they did a prompt warranty replacement. Thanks!

ExteriorMedics did an excellent job. The first contact was when one of their consultants, Tom Green, came out, inspected the roof, took pictures and made minor repairs. After a thorough explanation of each picture and the general condition of the roof, I asked for an estimate to correct the problems rather than replace roof at this time. There was no pressure at all to completely replace the roof. The estimate was made and explained on the spot and we agreed to have the work done. They scheduled at a time convenient to us. They sent a crew to do the work. They were friendly and efficient and finished the job in much less time than expected. I asked the consultant to come back out and review the pictures that the crew had taken after they completed the work with my wife and me. I also asked the consultant to visually inspect the roof, chimney, etc., to be sure there the job was completed appropriately and there were no other 'emergency' repairs needed. I then asked a number of questions about other problems/conditions we had concerning some rotted wood in the front and rotted wood surrounding the sliding glass door to the deck and side windows as well as rotted wood around the french doors, also to the deck. I'm now waiting for an estimate to replace the doors and windows and replace rotted wood.

Andy and the team were very punctual and professional. They arrived to give us an estimate and surprisingly told us what did not need to be done. When the returned for the installation they were again very professional and EXTREMELY CLEAN! There was NO mess left behind. There was a problem with the installation that Andy not only explained, but showed me. The new part needed to be made by a third party vendor. When it was delayed, I was notified immediately. The installation was completed with no problems. Andy called two weeks later to see how the wood stove was working and to see if we had any problems. I have already referred them to several of my friends!

Robert came out and performed a complete inspection and provided a detailed estimate. He took pictures of the problem areas and showed me before and after pictures. He was very professional and knowledgeable. They replaced only the defective hardware even though I asked if more items should be replaced since they were here. He advised me that the other hardware was in good shape and did not need to be replaced. I found his honesty refreshing considering my experience with other companies. Robert and his team came to my house on schedule and did an excellent job, and left my house spotless after they finished the job. I would definitely use The Chimney Doctor NOVA, Inc. again and recommend them.

I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing chimney related work. They were punctual and efficient. We initially had them to clean the chimney, but then they noted the cap at the top of the chimney needed to be replace. He was very timely with getting me a quote and then getting it installed. The cost of service I listed is for the replacement of the chimney cap.

American Chimney is absolutely one of my goto contractors, especially for all chimney needs. They successfully installed a complicated and fully cusstom built wood burning fireplace and were involved in helping me make all necessary decisions during the fabrication process. They exclusively do all of my chimney cleaning, which is twice a season due to the awesome fireplace they installed! As a contractor, I respect their prompt billing and ease of payment. I would highly recommend to all persons interested in chimney cleaning, chimney cap replacement, flue lining, and fireplace installation.

Confirmed appointment the day prior & called to let me know that they would arrive earlier than expected. Arrived on time, quickly determined that the existing chimney cap (18 yrs old) could not be repaired. He did have a replacement with him, completed the work in less than 15 minutes. The replacement cost $139 installed instead of the expected $59 for repair but overall seemed very reasonable. Also provided an estimate on some maintenance work that needs to be done in the near future. I will likely call them to do the additional work needed in the near future.

I called them to install chimney caps after some infiltration issues following the heavy rain of the past weeks. I had them on the phone Friday at 6 pm and they found a way to come by the next morning at 8 am! They installed the caps and took pictures of the flashing and cement crown to show me that both were in pretty bad shape. They also advised me to replace the damper which was broken; good call, it came up during home inspection and had slipped my mind since then! So I told them Ok for the damper but that the flashing and cement crown had to wait, so they resealed the flashing anyway and replaced the damper on the spot. They were overall very efficient and courteous.

Excellent at every step. From the promptness and helpfulness of the office staff to the white glove clean up at the end. All appointments made on time including a thirty minute advance call. Installation team knew their job and explained every step completely. Absolutely no dirt during the entire process.

They came for the estimate as promised. Once I authorized the work, they completed it within one week.

Contacted the company and within days someone came and gave me estimates for the jobs. After I agreed to the price and the timing of the work, workers showed up exactly when they said they would and went right to work. The work was completed when they said it would be finished. The foreman for the job kept checking in every few hours to see how things were going. The man in charge under the foreman was very capable and diligent. When the job was finished, everything was left in tip top order.

I contacted this company to install a chimney cap to prevent raccoon and other pest from entering the house. The serviceman came out as scheduled to evaluate and provide an estimate. He provided a detailed description of current condition of chimney and proposed corrective action. The work was scheduled and the workers arrived on time. The chimney was repaired and new cap installed as promised.

It went very smoothly. Mike came by initially to assess what was needed, and then was able to get two assistants there within two days to do the installation. As far as I can tell, everything went well, there were no issues when the HVAC was completed the next week, and all has worked perfectly since then. The guys who did the installation were very nice, cleaned up completely after their work, and put up with our cat -- so we couldn't have asked for more. They recommended and included the addition of a flex crown.

We hired Prouty's Chimney Sweeps to remove an old cast iron fireplace insert and install a new chimney cap. We set up the appointment over the phone and Greg arrived on time. He was very meticulous in his approach to removing the insert. He informed us that it had not been properly vented when it was installed, so it was a really good thing we had not used it much. As he slowly pulled out the insert he was careful to vacuum all dust and soot. He covered the floor with drop cloths to catch any loose dirt that might fall as he wheeled it out of our family room. He then inspected the entire chimney and removed an old bird's nest . He also installed a new chimney cap with a low profile, rubberized cap that completely seals the chimney. Overall, Greg did a fantastic job. He was professional, explained everything he was doing and why it needed to be done. The price was very reasonable for the amount of work he completed and the care he took to protect our family room. I would definitely recommend Prouty's based on my experience.

I had Nicholas Chimney out to sweep my chimney last year when I moved into my new home. They gave me a quote for having caps installed and replacing the crown which was well past its prime. When I called them up a year later they still had my quote and even honored the price. They showed up right when they said they would and when I got home from work everything was done and looked great. Will definitely use them again.

The company first sent out 2 employees to estimate what needed to be done. They took measurements for a custom chase cover and chimney cap. The sizes measured were later found to be incorrect after these items had been installed. The custom chase cover did not fit correctly and was too long. We would not accept the improperly installed chase cover and the company agreed to get a new chase cover. A new crew remeasured everything and at that time they confirmed that the installed chase cover was too long and the installed chimney cap was too small. The new crew told us that the previous Mitchel's installer had improperly jury-rigged the chimney cap to make it fit. In addition, we noticed some dent damage on the chimney siding and advised Mitchel's that we had not seen this damage prior to them completing the first part of the job. Mitchel's agreed to replace the damaged siding. Mitchel's finally completed the job by installing a better fitting chase cover and chimney cap. However, there is still a noticeable dent on one corner of the chase cover. The owner came out and pointed out that the dents to the chimney siding may have been caused by heat; however, they agreed to replace it anyway. Further, they pointed out many cracked seam areas on and around the chimney that needed re-caulking. Also, they found some loose siding on the front of our house. Mitchel's returned again later to re-caulk the chimney and reattach the loose siding. Although we were pleased with the responsiveness of the owner to most of our concerns, we generally felt that the overall quality of the finished job was not worth the high price of the job.
