Perry Aire Services Inc

Repair completed, but took more time than necessary because of waiting for another technician for a teaching experience. Made appointment on Monday; called Tuesday to give more information and they could not find the appointment information; said I would get a call back, but had to call again to get the appointment scheduled. Repairmen were pleasant, but seemed more familiar with commercial/industrial work.

John Nugent & Sons Inc

We recently purchased an older (three level) townhome, complete with the original HVAC system. Nugent (Mike) provided us with the most timely estimate and fastest installation, which was critical so we could qualify for the tax credit on our 2009 taxes. From confirmation of the order to completed install was one week. There were two problems which Nugent corrected to complete the installation. When the foreman came out to do the measurements for the new system, he noted - but did not tell us - that the new unit might not fit in the existing space in our upstairs hallway (the old unit was installed in a closet-type space and this was the only location in the house for the new unit). On the (first) day of the installation, we found out from the crew that the new unit was too large - by one-and-one-eighths of an inch. The door to the HVAC air handler would not close. We made a call to Nugent's office and explained that we were upset that we had not been told that there might be an issue with the installation and now we had an open HVAC air handler in our hallway. John said that he would personally come out the following morning to oversee how the air handler could be maneuvered to properly close the door. By lunchtime on the second day of the installation, the crew was able to get the door to close over the unit (took some special padding and adjustment of the door). The other issue was that the crew installed the thermostat at the end of the first day on the top floor of our townhome and did not take into consideration the fact that heat rises! By the time we went to bed that night, our top floor was 78 degrees (in mid-December) and our middle floor was only 61 degrees! On the second day of the installation, the crew had to pull the thermostat from the top floor and install a wireless programmable thermostat on the middle floor. Unfortunately, the new thermostat was an extra $400 dollars. Nugent was professional and cleaned up after themselves each day. They were always polite and answered any questions we had about the equipment or what they were doing. When the problems with the closet door and the thermostat came up, Nugent ultimately responded to correct the issues to our liking. This was what really impressed me about the company - they were willing to admit that a mistake had been made and that they would do their best to correct the problem. We will certainly use Nugent in the future.

Trademasters Service, Inc.

My realtor put me in touch with Trademasters directly after my home inspection revealed that the existing AC/Heating systems (yes, there were 2 separate A/Cs & furnaces) were well beyond their life span. I spoke with Shane Allen, project manager and estimator, on the phone and he agreed to meet me at the house and give an estimate on both the cost and approach for replacing two complete HVAC systems for a 3000+ sq ft house. When we met Shane for the initial evaluation he was extremely thorough and spent a considerable amount of time explaining what he found (in addition to some much needed HVAC fundamentals). I found myself at ease with Shane quickly because it was clear he is an HVAC expert, and that he had no intention of up-selling or applying any pressure whatsoever. Shortly after our visit we had a follow up conversation to discuss different possibilities (cost vs efficiency vs size) and we settled on 2 mid-tier Trane systems. After our conversation, he produced a quote (which turned out to be extremely accurate) and I selected Trademasters to do the work. He estimated the job would take somewhere between 1.5 and 2 days. The day after I purchased the house I scheduled the installation of the system and two well mannered technicians, Jose and Chris, showed up on-time. It was clear that Shane had prepared them appropriately in advance of the appointment, and they were quite familiar with the task at hand even before setting foot in the house. I showed Jose and Chris around and, again, felt at ease quickly by their professional communication and clear understanding of what needed to be done. They placed drop cloths in the areas where the work was to be done, and quickly began removing the old units. Within the first hour I felt comfortable enough with them to leave the house for a few hours to continue the process of moving in. By mid afternoon Jose and Chris had both new systems in place within the house, and were artfully modifying the existing (very large) duct work/supply boxes to interface to the new systems. I was very impressed by the care and attention to detail that Jose showed when doing this work, and that he was willing to field questions I had about the system as he was doing it. Project manager Shane also reached out to ensure everything was going wel At the end of the first day it was clear that the bulk of the work was complete, and they left the areas where they had been working very neat and clean. Day 2 was equally smooth. Jose and Chris were on time and completed the work by early afternoon. I was especially pleased with their thorough testing of each system, as well as air flow at all air vents through out the house. The two utility/machine rooms were cleaner when Jose and Chris left than they were before they arrived. No small details were left unaddressed. Jose even stayed a few extra minutes at the end to answer some totally off topic questions. He delivered a final invoice which was identical to the original quote, no surprises, no problems. My impression is that Jose and Chris worked on my home with the same care as if they were working on their own houses. Shane followed up multiple times during and after the installation to ensure everything went smoothly, which I also appreciated. Based on my research before selecting Trademasters I learned I could probably get these systems installed for slightly less money, but the professionalism, quality of workmanship, and peace of mind was well worth a small additional cost.. I feel confident that if a problem did arise Trademasters would take care of it. I've subsequently used them for a completely unrelated plumbing issue, and that experience went equally well. I strongly recommend them for HVAC and plumbing work.
