*To minimize out-of-pocket costs, active-duty servicemembers, their spouse/dependents, National Guard members, and Reservists receive a tuition grant that caps undergraduate, master's degree, and graduate certificate tuition at $250/credit hour. In addition, a university book grant provides no-cost textbooks and ebooks for all undergraduate and doctoral students and all military-tuition-grant-eligible master’s-level students.
*The technology fee is waived for active-duty military servicemembers, National Guard members, and Reservists.
Note: Fees may vary by academic program. For example, ENGR and ELEN courses incur a $100 technology fee. Please view your program of interest for exact fees.
If you withdraw from or drop a course, your account may be credited based on the guidelines listed below.

Course withdrawals could impact your eligibility for some financial aid, so it is important to look into that prior to making a decision.
As an accredited university, we are able to accept many forms of financing from public and private sources, including:
Federal Student Aid
The federal government offers a number of financial aid options to help you pay for school, and our financial aid representatives are fully trained to answer your FSA questions. You'll start by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine if you are eligible for federal aid. (Our FAFSA school code is 038193-00.) You'll want to submit all required financial aid forms at least 5 weeks before you plan to start taking courses.
Military TA
Our finance team has decades of experience helping active-duty servicemembers pay for school using military tuition assistance. We offer servicemembers a tuition grant designed to cap undergraduate and master’s degree/graduate certificate tuition at $250/credit hour.
Veterans Benefits
The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) offers a number of educational benefits to veterans. We are a Yellow Ribbon university. Also, our representatives can help you decide which GI Bill® best fits your needs and can navigate you through the submission process.
Employer Contributions
APU has educational partnerships with many employers and associations. Be sure to accurately enter your employer information when you complete our admissions application. Your employer might also offer a tuition reimbursement plan as one of your benefits.
Scholarships and Loans
While we don't directly offer university scholarships, there are many opportunities to apply for private scholarships or loans.
Self Pay Online
The university accepts MasterCard®, Visa®, or Discover® credit cards during registration checkout. We also offer electronic debit from your bank to pay for tuition in full or to set up an automatic payment plan to spread tuition costs over 2 to 3 months.
If you plan to use any form of financial assistance, it's important to start the process early. After you apply for enrollment or financial aid, please check your email frequently and respond promptly to our requests for items such as tax information or transcripts.
In addition to our affordable tuition rates, here are ways to save when paying for school.
You can take full advantage of our transfer credit options, including credit for your previous college courses and military service. Don’t leave your hard-earned credits behind.
Earning credit for real-world experiences can help you accelerate degree completion and save on total cost of tuition. Learn more about our prior learning assessment (PLA) program.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau website provides information about how to pay for college including tools to compare college costs and financial aid offers. You can also use the Department of Education's College Scorecard and College Navigator to search national databases.
Don’t become the victim of a scam. Before you apply for financial aid, learn how to spot potential fraud, avoid paying for free services, and prevent identity theft.
We also encourage you to view our consumer information page designed to help you make informed decisions regarding your education.
The Net Price Calculator (NPC) is a free service to help you determine your eligibility for Federal Student Aid programs. The NPC takes only about 5 minutes to complete, and it will provide you with an immediate estimate of the financial aid that you might be eligible to receive. Note: this is not a replacement for the FAFSA application.
