Support » Fixing WordPress » Put a password on WP-admin and now

  • I secured the folder for wp-admin by putting a password on it. That part is working but now on the home page on other various pages when I scroll down I get a password request prompt. Troubleshooting I looked at the code and somewhere in there it tries to go to wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=rest-nonc So I assume that’s the reason the password prompt is coming up. How can I resolve this? i want to secure my wp-admin folder but how do I do that if the page is going back to admin-ajax? Is there something I can do to stop that?

    Thanks in advance

Password-protecting /wp-admin/ is not recommended, as it is included in a variety of places.

Instead, use a strong password, as that would be required to log in to the site’s Dashboard anyway.
