Commencement 2021

Dear Class of 2021 Graduates,

While we planned to celebrate your achievements together with you, your guests, and your fellow classmates, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person events and will instead celebrate Commencement virtually this year.

This decision was not made lightly and is based on the guidance from health officials, requirements in the state of Maryland (where we host the event), and information gathered related to vaccines and virus mitigation efforts.

One thing that makes our Commencement celebrations so memorable is the gathering of graduates, guests, faculty, and staff from around the world. We are not able to do this safely this year, but we expect to host an impressive event in 2022 and will invite you and your guests to join us at that time.

As mentioned, we are planning a Virtual Commencement celebration to recognize you and your accomplishments. This event will occur on May 22, 2021, and it will be streamed online and via social media channels. We will host various student speakers, recognize our university award winners, grant your credentials, and help you share your achievements.

Undoubtedly, you have worked to support your families and your communities over this past year in ways that we likely never imagined. Your service and sacrifices are noticed and commendable. We are proud of you in so many ways. We look forward to celebrating with you online this year and in person, as soon as we can do so safely.
