I’m currently working through issues that impact page speed. I’ve also just moved to my own Genesis child theme. It is based on the Genesis Sample theme.

Dashicons were having a significant impact on pagespeed. I found a solution which was to dequeue the file in functions.php for people not logged in. This appeared to work great speed wise, but then I noticed a problem with the Mobile responsive menu.

The mobile menu uses 3 dashicons. The hamburger plus and arrow up and down.

I’m totally lost on how to change this. My preference would be to add 3 icons locally and use them instead. Then I could leave Dashicons off.

Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? If so, what did you do?

(Specifically it is the dashicons.min.css that is slowing things down).
