The entire site and much of the forum should now be XHTML 1.1, completely valid and tested. I’ve submitted the site to the X-Philes. The forums still need some work. Cursed invalid embedded markup!

Looks good. I’ve added it to the list.

D’oh! Check that — the support forum declares a XHTML 1.1 DOCTYPE, but is text/html and invalid. Sorry, I jumped the gun there.

I don’t if this has to do with xhtml or not, but middle clicking to open link in new tab (for Firebird) now autoscrolls (when in the DevBlog)…Weird, because this is the only section of wp.org that it happens on (eg middle-click works well in the forum).

You should remove the
content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"
from the code, as proper XHTML 1.1 pages must be served asapplication/xhtml+xml
.Read here: http://www.dionidium.com/2003/09/00112.html

I also have the auto-scroll problem (which I’ve seen a few other places as well!).

I think this is a problem with the Firebird auto-scroll extension. I’ve disabled it and now, middle-click seems to work.

regarding comment no. 4, xhtml + xml does not work in ie6…keep reading from that link and you will find out that ie6 only understands text/html, not xhtml + xml… 🙂 tom

You can use this code to give the correct MIME type to Mozilla, as well as serving the backward-compatible code to IE:

Woops, the code above didnt display, nevermind, follow this link:
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2003/03/19/dive-into-xml.html
Near the end of the article, they explain how to accomodate IE with that MIME type.
